Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and associated method for a positive retraction bypass valve. The positive retraction bypass valve can include a dump cartridge in a valve body with a valve stem biased to an open position to allow flow through a drain path. An adjuster can advance toward the valve stem and oppose the bias to at least partially close the valve. Upon retraction of the adjuster from the valve body, a retraction rod assembly with a retraction rod coupled to the adjuster and the valve stem can pull the valve stem toward the adjuster if the bias or fluid pressure on the valve stem does not move the valve stem toward the adjuster.
