    Abstract: A well tool having an hydraulically releasable coupler component, a gravel packing apparatus and method for use therewith in a subterranean well having production tubing inserted therein, wherein said coupler comprises hydraulic means for releasing the tubing from the gravel pack apparatus without rotating said tubing when the coupler is activated and the tubing removed, the lower portion of the coupler remaining in the well with the gravel pack and providing a receptacle for a packing element partially inserted therethrough.
