    Abstract: A machine stand having a planar surface is formed with a groove of predetermined width. A precision guide rail slightly narrower than the groove is received in this groove and has an edge confronting and spaced from one of the flanks of the groove. A corrugated spring steel holding element is compressed between the edge of the rail and the flank of the groove and has corrugations extending transverse to the plane of the machine stand.
