    Abstract: Methods for capturing medical images associated with a patient using a mobile image-capturing device are disclosed. One example method includes accessing patient identifying information through an electronic health record (EHR) application installed in the mobile image-capturing device. A user may launch a scan application installed in the mobile image-capturing device from the EHR application and upon launching of the scan application, the scan application may be provided with the patient identifying information from the EHR application. The scan application may capture medical images using an imaging equipment of the mobile image-capturing device, associate the captured images with the patient identifying information, and transmit the captured images with the patient identifying information to a storage location.

The second application may then retrieve one or more medical images stored in the mobile device, associate the one or more retrieved medical images with the patient using the identifying information, and transmit the one or more retrieved medical images with the associated patient identifying information from the mobile device to a storage location.

One example method includes parsing the data to retrieve values from the data that match a field in a formatting template. The matching values are then normalized based on format settings configured in the formatting template. A range of values may be added to one or more fields in the formatting template. For values that match the fields associated with the range of values, it is determined if the values fall outside the range of values. Upon positive determination, the values may be further formatted by adding an indicator marking that the values are out of bounds from the range of values. The formatted values are then sent to the dictation system for use by the dictation system in generating reports.

A job may be generated for each of the received clinical data. The retrieved values may be normalized based on format settings in the formatting template, and the normalized values may be sent to the dictation system. If the normalized values are successfully sent to the dictation system, the job associated with the normalized values may be marked completed. Otherwise, the job will be marked as failed and a user may be allowed to re-send the normalized values to the dictation system.
