Abstract: Technology is disclosed for enabling power-efficient and safe use of a portable electronic apparatus such as a glue gun. The tool is designed so as to allow for cordless operation, and the sizing, shape and composition of the heater and the motion sensing, temperature sensing and timing circuitry that are incorporated into the device maximize the amount of heat output to thereby minimize the energy required for powering the tool.

Abstract: A handheld power tool, such as a soldering tool, is provided with grip pads. These grip pads increase the friction between a user's fingers and the power tool, in order to increase control when using the tool. These grip pads are especially useful in tools which are held in a pen like grip.

Abstract: The present invention provides a soldering iron with a graphite tip having two separate halves that are electrically isolated from one another. When both halves of the tip are applied to an electrically conductive material, such as the material to be soldered, an electrical circuit between the tip halves and an electrical power source is completed. Therefore, the tip can reach operating temperatures quickly. When the tip is removed from the joint, the electrical circuit is broken and the tip material may quickly cool to a temperature safe for human contact. The tip material permits higher power outputs than other battery operated portable soldering irons and permits over 300 joints for each full charge.
