  • Publication number: 20160178013
Abstract: According to a first aspect of the invention we provide a self-retaining drive shaft assembly for use with a device for tightening and loosening of an industrial fastener having: a drive retainer drive shaft; a drive retainer cap; a drive retainer plunger; and a drive retainer segment assembly. The segment assembly is formed between the drive shaft and the cap. The cap is formed between the segment assembly and the plunger. The segment assembly, the cap and the plunger are formed substantially within the drive shaft. Advantageously the retainer assembly is of unitary construction; requires no loose parts or external implements to engage and secure the drive shaft to a drive head of the device; reduces likelihood of device failure during operation due to improper engagement of the drive shaft; and increases user safety during device operation.

  • Patent number: 9308632
Abstract: Apparatus for tightening or loosening fasteners pneumatically, electrically, hydraulically and manually driven are disclosed, and in one example includes: a receiving member, rotatably supported in the apparatus for tightening or loosening, for receiving the fastener; a device for effecting rotation of the receiving member to tighten or loosen the fastener; and an apparatus which transfers a reaction force during tightening or loosening of the fasteners. The apparatus which transfers a reaction force includes: a first force-transmitting element rotatably attachable about a turning force axis of the device for effecting rotation; and a second force-transmitting element either rotatably attachable about, extensibly and retractably attachable along, or rotatably attachable about and extensibly and retractably attachable along at least a portion of the first element.

  • Publication number: 20160067849
Abstract: An offset drive link assembly for transmission and multiplication of torque from a power tool for tightening or loosening a threaded fastener includes: a drive force input assembly having a drive force input engagement to receive a first turning force from the device acting in a first direction; a drive force output assembly operatively engageable with the drive force input engagement, having a drive force output engagement to transfer the first turning force to the fastener; and a reaction force assembly having a reaction force input engagement to receive a second turning force from the device in a second direction and a reaction force output engagement to transfer the second turning force to a stationary object.

  • Publication number: 20130319704
Abstract: The invention relates to a drive unit for a power operated tool for the generation of a screw pretensioning force, with a pump unit (2), a valve unit (3) arranged on the pump unit with a pressure-restricting pressure valve (4) and a control unit (2) for activating the pump unit. In order to provide a drive unit that eliminates the risk of an incorrect setting of the setting parameter, it is provided that a processing unit (5) with an output unit and a data capturing unit (6) connected and/or integrated with the processing unit are provided, wherein the processing unit is designed for the output of the value to be set on the pressure valve based on the screw connection process parameters determined with the data capturing unit.
