Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for automatically recognizing a license plate number of a subject vehicle in use of a surveillance vehicle, which mounts automatic license plate number recognition equipment including a camera to a vehicle such as police patrol car, security company car, taxi, and so on, recognizes the license plate of a different vehicle on the run or in parking or stopping through the camera, verifying whether the vehicle is stolen, in search, or has a forged license plate, and can deal with the vehicle early when the vehicle is in question.
