    Abstract: A cable connecting apparatus comprises a plug type connector having a connectively engaging portion provided with a plurality of plug contacts which are arranged on each of first and second opposite surfaces of the connectively engaging portion to be connected with cables and a receptacle type connector having a housing on which an opening through which the connectively engaging portion of the plug type connector is inserted is formed at an end portion of the housing and a plurality of receptacle contacts arranged in the housing, wherein each of the receptacle contacts is provided with a pair of contacting points for coming into press-contact with the plug contact respectively on both sides of the first and second surfaces of the connectively engaging portion of the plug type connector and a distance from the end portion of the housing to one of the contacting points is different from a distance from the end portion of the housing to the other of the contacting points.
