Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention relates a reclining lift chair frame used in a reclining lift chair. The reclining lift chair frame utilizes a position holding mechanism to eliminate the free (idle) fall of the footrest of the reclining lift chair.
Abstract: A support frame for use in a lift chair. In one embodiment, the support frame includes a base frame having longitudinally spaced transversely extending front and rear frame base rails; a first longitudinally extending side frame base rail connected to the front and rear frame base rails and a second longitudinally extending side frame base rail connected to the front and rear frame base rails, respectively, the first and second side frame base rails and the front and rear frame base rails being co-planar for supporting the lift chair on a surface; and a force balance member mounted to the rear frame base rail. The force balance member has a transversely extending base portion, a first arm portion extending from the base portion at a first angle ?a, and an opposite, second arm portion extending from the base portion at a second angle ?b.

Abstract: An actuator. In one embodiment, the actuator comprises a reversible electric motor having a stator having a housing, a rotor housed in the housing of the stator, and a shaft having a forward portion and a rearward portion extending oppositely and coaxially from the rotor, respectively; a fan member coaxially attached to the forward portion or the rearward portion of the motor shaft such that the fan member is operable simultaneously with the rotor of the reversible electric motor; and an electromagnetic brake movable between a first position and a second position, positioned in relation to the fan member such that when the electromagnetic brake is in the first position, the fan member is rotatable with the rotor of the reversible electric motor, and when the electromagnetic brake is in the second position, the fan member stops rotating firmly, thereby causing the motor stops instantly.
