Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for processing speech. A system configured to practice the method monitors user utterances to generate a conversation context. Then the system receives a current user utterance independent of non-natural language input intended to trigger speech processing. The system compares the current user utterance to the conversation context to generate a context similarity score, and if the context similarity score is above a threshold, incorporates the current user utterance into the conversation context. If the context similarity score is below the threshold, the system discards the current user utterance. The system can compare the current user utterance to the conversation context based on an n-gram distribution, a perplexity score, and a perplexity threshold. Alternately, the system can use a task model to compare the current user utterance to the conversation context.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for predicting the tint strength of a pigmented coating composition, such as automotive OEM or refinish paint, on a real time basis while it is being made. The tint strength of a coating resulting from a layer, obtained by adding a reference binder to the coating composition, is measured. The process is repeated by subjecting the coating compositions to successive grinding intervals. The tint strength vs. reflectance is plotted on a graph and then by using a curve fitting equation, a tint strength prediction curve is obtained. By measuring the reflectance of a wet layer of a target coating composition, the tint strength of that target coating composition can then be predicted by using the tint strength prediction curve. The process is most useful during the manufacture of coating compositions, such as automotive OEM and refinishes paints.

The reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer includes a first optical equalizer to precompensate a received optical signal for optical filtering effects to produce a first compensated optical signal. A first interleaver, coupled to the first optical equalizer, separates the first compensated optical signal into an odd optical signal and an even optical signal. A plurality of wavelength selective switches processes the odd optical signal and the even optical signal. A second interleaver, combines the odd optical signal and the even optical signal to produce a combined optical signal. A second optical equalizer, coupled to the second interleaver, postcompensates the combined optical signal for optical filtering effects to produce an output optical signal.

Abstract: Enhanced biometric authentication is achieved by combining a user's inherent biometric data with the user's knowledge of a secret glyph. In one embodiment, a touchpad is provided on which the user may use a finger to indicate a plurality of strokes that form a distinct glyph. Image stabilization may be used to extract a readable fingerprint from the strokes, and the glyph and finger print are matched to a stored profile. The glyph may be one or more alphanumeric characters that represent a password. The user can then enter the password on the touch pad with his finger. If the fingerprint and password both match, the user is authenticated.

Abstract: A particular method includes determining estimated popularity scores for programs identified in an electronic program guide for a time interval. The programs identified in the electronic program guide for the time interval include programs being aired. One or more estimated popularity scores are based on viewing trends of the programs being aired. The method also includes determining a voice search vocabulary based on the estimated popularity scores. The voice search vocabulary includes one or more keywords usable for a keyword search of the electronic program guide during the time interval based on a received voice search request.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for processing multimodal input. A system configured to practice the method continuously monitors an audio stream associated with a gesture input stream, and detects a speech event in the audio stream. Then the system identifies a temporal window associated with a time of the speech event, and analyzes data from the gesture input stream within the temporal window to identify a gesture event. The system processes the speech event and the gesture event to produce a multimodal command. The gesture in the gesture input stream can be directed to a display, but is remote from the display. The system can analyze the data from the gesture input stream by calculating an average of gesture coordinates within the temporal window.

A multilayer deception system controller generates honey activity between the honey entities and exposes a honey profile with contact information associated with a honey user. Contact directed at the honey user and/or activity at any of the honey entities can trigger alarms and/or indicate an attack, and can be analyzed to prevent future attacks.

In response to a call setup request at a common communications core that is common to both the IP based communications system and the other communications system, a query is transmitted to a private telephone number mapping database that contains routing information for terminals in both the IP based communications system and the other communications system requesting routing information for the second terminal. Routing information for the call setup request is received from the private telephone number mapping database for routing the call.

Logic on the remote scanner receives the request and the restriction, transmits the request to a mobile device, receives the transaction information while monitoring the restriction, and transmits the transaction information to the POS terminal for processing. The transaction information may be provided subject to the restriction.

Abstract: The invention relates to gene expression regulatory sequences, specifically introns that act as enhancers of gene expression, the promoter and terminator sequences endogenously associated with these introns. Presence of these intronic enhancer sequences in proximity to promoter sequences leads to enhancement of gene expression. Methods of finding such new intronic enhancer sequences and using them to generate transgenic plants are also described.

Responsive to determining that the call state associated with the dialog is not found in memory, a non-call terminating error response is made responding to the in-dialog request. The non-call terminating error response may cause the requester to terminate the in-dialog request but not terminate the dialog.
