Abstract: The present invention provides an ink for inkjet printing, comprising an aqueous vehicle, a pigment colorant and an effective amount of 3-butoxypropylamine as a bleed control agent. The ink exhibits reduced intercolor bleed when printed, for example, on plain paper.
Abstract: A set top terminal is disclosed for use with a television delivery system. The terminal receives a television signal and extracts from the signal individual programs for display on a user's television associated with the terminal. The terminal receives a selection of a program or interactive feature from an interactive electronic program guide displayed on the television. An interactive electronic program guide is disclosed for use with a television delivery system. The guide includes a plurality of interconnected menus having display information. The guide also includes a cursor controlled by the user input device for sequencing through the menus and selecting a menu item. The menus include an introductory menu displayed when the guide is started, a main menu that allows access to program submenus and interactive submenus, and during program menus. The during program menus include both overlay menus that are displayed during a program and hidden menus that are not displayed.
Abstract: A rapid and efficient method for novel biological substance screening by surface analysis has been developed using Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). This method relies on the surface screening of an array of micro-organisms grown on porous membranes, which had previously been in contact with a solid growth medium. ToF-SIMS analysis differentiates among organisms producing different substances, either directly as molecular product, or indirectly through the use of multivariate statistical data reduction techniques. This method has many advantages over traditional microbial screening methods, which require sample preparation and time for assay development.

The fluid further contains one or more viscosifying agents, and is substantially clay-free.
Abstract: The invention provides an ink for inkjet printing, comprising a self-dispersing pigment colorant and a bleed control agent selected from the group consisting of catechol, 4-methylcatechol and any combination thereof. Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for improving hydrocarbon-water compatibility. More specifically, the invention relates to methods for enhancing the production of surface-active agents in hydrocarbon-exposed surface waters in order to improve hydrocarbon-water compatibility. Hydrocarbon-exposed surface waters having enhanced levels of surface-active agents can be used to improve remediation of subsurface hydrocarbon-contaminated sites.
Abstract: The inventive subject matter is directed to a sole unit for an item of footwear having a forefoot region, a midfoot region and a rearfoot region. The mid foot region includes a balancing structure having a curved surface profile that rotates around (i) an axis for fore-aft pivoting or balancing and/or (ii) an axis for lateral-medial pivoting or balancing, when the item of footwear is under a normal load of a user.

Abstract: A process for reducing the fluoroether carboxylic acid or salt content of aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion. The fluoroether carboxylic acid or salt employed comprises fluoroether carboxylic acid or salt having the formula below: [R1—O-L-COO?]Y+ wherein R1 is a linear, branched or cyclic partially or fully fluorinated aliphatic group which may contain ether linkages; L is a branched partially or fully fluorinated alkylene group which may contain ether linkages; and Y+ is hydrogen, ammonium or alkali metal cation. The process comprises adding stabilizer to the aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion to form a stabilized aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion and heating the stabilized aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion to decarboxylate the fluoroether carboxylic acid or salt to produce a fluoroether byproduct. At least a portion of the fluoroether byproduct is removed.

Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus for processing of highway toll payments by a mobile telecommunications service provider. A mobile telecommunications device communicates with a mobile telecommunications service provider. The mobile telecommunications service provider receives a request to calculate a route to a destination. The mobile telecommunications service provider determines the location of the mobile telecommunications device from a global navigation satellite system or from a mobile telecommunications network and calculates a route. The mobile telecommunications service provider then identifies toll booths along the calculated route. The mobile telecommunications service provider pre-pays the tolls. The mobile telecommunications service provider sends turn-by-turn instructions to the mobile telecommunications device and tracks the location of the mobile telecommunications device and records the date and time at which the mobile telecommunications device passes through a toll booth.
