Abstract: The invention relates to a method of initiating molecular bonding, comprising bringing one face of a first wafer to face one face of a second wafer and initiating a point of contact between the two facing faces. The point of contact is initiated by application to one of the two wafers, for example using a bearing element of a tool, of a mechanical pressure in the range 0,1 MPa to 33.3 MPa.

Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) control system includes network elements (such as access points and clients) and a centralized dynamic performance management system. The network elements measure signal attenuation in communications with other WLAN network elements. The dynamic performance management system receives signal attenuation data from the network elements, and determines a frequency and/or transmission power level for each of the network elements to reduce interference with the other WLAN network elements. The dynamic performance management system also transmits instructions to each network element to control the frequency and/or transmission power level of the network elements.

The method including the displacement of a hydrocarbon source with a material of different density and recovery of the hydrocarbons from the vessel. Additionally, a method for extracting hydrocarbons from a vessel by gas displacement through chemical introduction. The method including introduction of hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate into a vessel, production of carbon dioxide from the reaction of the hydrochloric acid and the sodium bicarbonate, displacement of a hydrocarbon source inside the vessel, and recovery of the hydrocarbon source from the vessel.

Abstract: Publishing content associated with an electronic file attached to an electronic mail message by executing instructions contained in the electronic mail attachment and accessing the content at a remote computer server identified by the attached file. The attached file includes computer-executable instructions, such as a computer program or script, which include an identifier for a remote server connected to a distributed computer network. This identified remote server typically hosts a web site containing content intended for viewing by the recipient of the electronic mail message. In response to launching the attached file of the electronic mail message with a viewer program, a browser program can be opened to enable the recipient to view the content of the identified remote server, typically a web site on an intranet or the global Internet.
Abstract: The invention at hand describes a method for the cyclization of peptides and proteins in which linear thioesters serve as substrates. The cyclization is catalyzed by thioesterase domains of NRPS or PKS cyclases. The substrates according to the present invention are composed of one linear peptide on which a charge-stabilized aromatic, heteroaromatic or araliphatic leaving group is bound. These substrates lead to higher yields and reaction rates than linear peptides able to be cyclized with methods known so far and, furthermore, allow the cyclization of such peptides which were previously not able to be cyclized.

Abstract: Systems and methods for wireless communication are provided. In a particular embodiment, a base station device is disclosed that includes an interface coupled to a network to communicate with a central controller and a wireless transceiver adapted to communicate wirelessly with one or more portable devices via a local area network. The base station device also includes logic coupled to the interface and to the wireless transceiver. The logic communicates with the remote central controller device via the network to receive an authorization to communicate wirelessly. The logic selectively activates the wireless transceiver after receiving the authorization.
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for reliable communications in a packet network. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network management system (NMS) having a controller programmed to establish between first and second customer edge (CE) routers in a full mesh packet network first and second logical data tunnels conforming to an isolation protocol, synchronize packet data in the first and second logical data tunnels, enable packet data exchanges between the first and second CE routers over the first logical data tunnel, direct the first and second CE routers to duplicate the packet data exchanged between them over the second logical data tunnel, and direct the first and second CE routers to synchronously switch to the second logical data tunnel upon detecting a fault in the first logical data tunnel.

Abstract: A method includes determining customization options available for customizing a recording based on ringtone capabilities of a phone and communicating the available customization options to the phone. The method further includes customizing the recording according to the available customization options selected by a user of the phone to thereby generate a customized recording. The method further includes generating a customized ringtone based on the customized recording and transmitting to the phone the customized ringtone to the phone for use by the phone in alerting of incoming communications.
Abstract: Interactions between customers and representatives of a service provider are documented by providing multiple electronic forms for completion. Information that is requested for both forms is carried over from one form to the next rather than requiring the representative to manually enter the same information multiple times. For instance, a call back number of the customer may be entered on one electronic form being used to edit information for a customer and that call back number is automatically carried over to another form being used to document a commitment to handle a request from the customer. The representative is relieved of double-entry, and mistakes that might arise from double-entry are reduced or eliminated. The electronic forms may be submitted to a tracker database that allows for further disposition of the request by the customer.
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for providing multi-viewpoint media content services is provided. The method includes receiving a feed of content from at least one communications device that is observing an event from a specified viewpoint and/or relaying the feed of content received from another communications device. The method also includes classifying the content according to a viewpoint identifier and a content identifier. The content identifier specifies a defined portion of the event. The method further includes providing access to user-selectable viewpoints of the content via a corresponding viewpoint identifier and content identifier. Content of selected viewpoints is modifiable for creating customized content.
Abstract: A container for containing a flowable material includes first and second sheet portions selectively sealed together along a perimeter of said container to define a closed cavity for containing the flowable material therein. The cavity includes a dispensing portion at a periphery of the container, with the dispensing portion being configured for dispensing the flowable material from the cavity when the dispensing portion is opened. The base and/or the side regions of the container may comprise at least one substantially rigid region with at least one weakened portion to facilitate folding of the base and/or side regions at the weakened portion or portions to assist in dispensing the flowable material from the container.
Abstract: An apparatus for managing a data backup is disclosed. In accordance with the apparatus of the present invention, an integrity verification data randomly extracted according to a predetermined condition is used to facilitate a checking of an error that may exist in a backup data, and extracting and locating the integrity verification data are facilitated by using an index data, thereby minimizing a work time for verifying an integrity of the backup data.

Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to enable 911 services to an internet protocol (“IP”) communication device are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves receiving a media access control address associated with the IP communication device and a first internet protocol address associated with a gateway through which the IP communication device is obtaining network access. A second internet protocol address associated with the media access control address is then retrieved. The first internet protocol address with the second internet protocol address are then compared. When the first internet protocol address does not match the second internet protocol address, the media access control address is associated with the first internet protocol address in a database to designate a geographic location of the device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, computer-implemented methods, and computer-readable media for sampling network traffic. The method includes receiving a desired quantity of flow record to sample, receiving a plurality of network flow record each summarizing a network flow of packets, calculating a hash for each flow record of based on one or more invariant part of a respective flow, generating a quasi-random number from the calculated hash for each respective flow record, generating a priority from the calculated hash for each respective flow record, and sampling exactly the desired quantity of flow records, selecting flow records having a highest priority first. In one aspect, the method further partitions the plurality of flow records into groups based on flow origin and destination, generates an individual priority for each partitioned group, and separately samples exactly the desired quantity of flow records from each partitioned group, selecting flows having a highest individual priority first.
