Abstract: An invert emulsion suitable for drilling subterranean wells, in particular oil and gas wells is disclosed which has negative alkalinity and includes an oleaginous phase, and a non-oleaginous phase and an emulsifying agent which stabilizes the invert emulsion under conditions of negative alkalinity. The practice of the present invention permits the formulation of drilling fluids which are absent an alkaline reserve and are compatible with elastomers utilized in drilling equipment. Thus the invert emulsion fluids of the present invention are highly suitable for drilling oil and gas wells.
Abstract: A device for folding vertical flaps of a container (1) moved along a line (100) for packaging products (3) into these containers (1) includes a (cam) member (11), guided along a cyclical trajectory (T) by support and operating means (20) cooperating with trajectory correcting means (6). The trajectory (T) includes a first part (T1), along which the (cam) member (11) moves close to container (1), upstream of said rear vertical flap (5) with respect to the container (1) movement direction (W), and a second part (T2), along which the rear vertical flap (5) is pushed. The supporting and operating means (20) include a pulley (21) and a connecting rod (22), aimed at guiding the (cam) member (11) and a bar (13), connected thereto, along a circumference arc. The trajectory correcting means (6) include a rotating body (31), aimed at receiving slildingly the bar (13) in a seat (32) made therein.

Abstract: A pumping system for injecting buoyant spheres into an oil or gas well having a feeder containing a plurality of buoyant spheres; and a sphere pump in proximity to the feeder, having first and second rotatable wheels, wherein the first wheel has a plurality of notches and the second wheel has a corresponding plurality of notches, such that during rotation of the wheels the first and second wheel notches temporarily combine to form a plurality of pockets, wherein each pocket receives then ejects one of the plurality of buoyant spheres from the feeder during rotation of the first and second wheels.
Abstract: A binary encoding circuit is for converting at least first and second binary input signals into an output code that includes at least first and second binary output signals. The circuit may include at least one first selection circuit and at least one second selection circuit that are interconnected and comprise transistors that can be activated/deactivated, i.e. made to conduct/not conduct, according to the binary input signals. The circuit makes it possible to generate a binary code that represents the binary number of the binary input signals that are simultaneously asserted. The encoding circuit can act as a static counter, for example.
Abstract: A filtration device having a plurality of membrane modules is provided. Each of the plurality of membrane modules has first and second permeable sheets that are separated by a spacer, a first ring disposed around a perimeter of a first hole in the first permeable sheet, and a second ring disposed around a perimeter of a second hole in the second permeable sheet, the second hole in alignment with the first hole. The first ring of each of the plurality of membrane modules is in abutment with the second ring of a preceding one of each of the plurality of membrane modules so that the plurality of membrane modules are interconnected for communication therebetween. Some embodiments further provide a third sheet that disposed between successively adjacent membrane modules.
Abstract: The memory device of the invention outputs the read data in a time starting from the rising edge of the external clock that is shorter than that of other known devices, because the output buffer has an array of master-slave pairs of flip-flops synchronized by respective timing signals derived from the internal clock signal. The array receives data from the state machine through the second internal bus and provides the data to be output to the output stage of the buffer enabled by the state machine. The said porous zone comprises a first zone, a second zone and a third zone. The first zone comprising a first non-immobilised conjugate, capable of specifically binding to the steroid to be assayed and a second non-immobilised conjugate capable of binding specifically to a compound different from the steroid to be assayed. Abstract: An additive which increases the density of wellbore fluids used during the construction or repair of oil, gas, injection, water or geothermal wells comprises solid colloidal particles of weight average particle diameter (D50) of less than 2 microns, the particles being deflocculated by the action of a dispersant, preferably incorporated during the process of grinding or communication of the particles to the specified particle size. Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a hydroxy-substituted organic compound comprising decomposing an organic hydroperoxide, preferably a compound of the formula Ar—C(CH3)2O2H, wherein Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted mononuclear or polynuclear aromatic group. The decomposition is carried out in the presence of a catalyst comprising highly fluorinated polymer having sulfonic acid groups with the catalyst being in the form of particles of which at least about 20 weight % have a particle size less than about 300 &mgr;m. Cumene hydroperoxide can be decomposed in the process to phenol and acetone which can be reacted to form bisphenol A in the presence of the same catalyst that was used for the decomposition.
