  • Patent number: 4292900
Abstract: A pallet post, which is adapted to be positioned between a plastic upper deck and a plastic lower deck of a pallet, is disclosed. The pallet post has a longitudinal axis, means for rotatably mounting the pallet post about the axis between the upper deck and the lower deck of a pallet, and at least three winglike arms which project radially from the axis. The winglike arms are substantially equally spaced about the axis and extend the length of the pallet post. The pallet post has the advantage that if struck by a tine of a fork lift truck, the post tends to rotate and to deflect the tine so that it passes the post without damaging the post or the plastic decks of the pallet between which the post is rotatably mounted.

  • Patent number: 4293518
Abstract: The uniformity of bulked continuous filament yarns is improved by stabilizing the yarn path on draw pins and on heated draw rolls in a coupled spin-draw-bulk process wherein just before the yarn contacts a draw pin it is passed between two parallel guide pins in tandem in a zig-zag path which cause the plane of the yarn ribbon to rotate about the yarn axis by an angle of from 50.degree. to 90.degree. and back before contacting a draw pin. More uniform spreading of the yarn filaments on the heated rolls saves energy by permitting the use of lower roll temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4292120
Abstract: A process of forming an image of toner on a latent magnetic image in a magnetic imaging member followed by transfer to a heated transfer member. The transfer member is formed of a backing sheet coated with polyvinyl alcohol. The toner image is then transferred to a substrate using heat and pressure. The backing sheet portion of the transfer member is then stripped away and the polyvinyl alcohol is washed away with water. The surface portion of the substrate not protected by the transferred resist toner image is then permanently modified by etching or plating. Chemically milled shapes are prepared as well as printed circuits and printing plates. The printed circuits may be formed by (1) etching away areas of a metal surface not protected by the resist, (2) electroless plating on areas not protected by the resist or (3) electroplating areas of a metal surface not protected by the resist, removing the resist, and in the case of (2) and (3), etching away the metal previously covered by the resist.

  • Patent number: 4292449
Abstract: The reaction of a polyfluorocarbonyl compound such as a polyfluoroketone or polyfluorocarboxylic acid fluoride with fluoride ion and a polyfluoroallyl chloride, bromide or fluorosulfate produces a polyfluoroallyloxy compound, e.g., CF.sub.2 .dbd.CFCF.sub.2 OCF.sub.2 CF.sub.3. The polyfluoroallyloxy compounds copolymerize with ethylenically unsaturated monomers such as tetrafluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene or vinylidene fluoride to form polymers which are moldable, and in some cases electrically conducting or are water-wettable and dyeable.

  • Patent number: 4290456
Abstract: An improved thermoplastic pipe stub end for welding to thermoplastic pipe is disclosed. The stub end has a flange portion integrally joined to a neck portion which has inner and outer surfaces and terminates at a welding face. The improvement resides in the reduction of the length of neck portion such that it extends from the flange a distance in millimeters of not greater than 1.5 .sqroot.O.D., where O.D. is the outer diameter in centimeters of the neck portion at the welding face. The improved stub end permits higher strength heat welds to be made by butt fusion between the thermoplastic stub end and a thermoplastic pipe to be joined thereto.
