Abstract: The present application relates to a device for conveying flat pieces. The device comprises a belt with a transport surface, wherein the belt is movable along a transport axis; a support element with a support surface for supporting the belt; and a vacuum supply for providing vacuum suction; wherein a suction distributing structure at the support surface of the support element is in fluid connection with the vacuum supply; and wherein the suction distributing structure has a belt suction region and a card suction region, wherein the belt suction region is configured to provide suction to the belt and the card suction region is configured to provide suction to flat pieces on the transport surface of the belt. The present application also relates to a system for treating flat pieces, the system comprising a treatment device, for example a print head.

Abstract: A bending system for separating a page from a cover of a value document, wherein the page is connected to a spine of the cover, the spine separating the cover in first and second cover portions, wherein an angle ? is formed between the first and second cover portions. The bending system includes a bending unit connected to a motor, wherein the motor is configured to operate the bending unit such that the bending unit bends the value document to a first state, where ? is larger than 180°, and then back to a second state, where ? is at least 180° but less than ? in the first state, to separate the page from the cover. Also disclosed is an engraving system for engraving a front side and backside of a page of the value document and a document manufacturing device including the bending system and engraving system.

Abstract: A method for contactless cleaning of a nozzle plate of a print head. The method may include: providing a suction element, the suction element causing a fluid to flow along a surface of the nozzle plate and toward the suction element for removing residue from the nozzle plate; sucking-in, by the suction element, the fluid together with the removed residue; and separating the sucked-in fluid from the sucked-in residue. Also, a suction element for cleaning of such a nozzle plate. The suction element may be configured to cause a fluid to flow along a surface of the nozzle plate and toward the suction element for removing residue from the nozzle plate and sucking-in the fluid with the residue. The suction element may include a mouth piece and a wheel, the wheel being arranged such that the mouth piece is spaced away from the surface of the nozzle plate.

Abstract: A laser engraver having a laser, a camera, and a plate for holding a product, wherein an optical path of the laser is directed to the plate, an optical path of the camera is directed to the plate, and the optical path of the camera to the plate and the optical path of the laser to the plate are at least partially the same before and when hitting the plate. The laser engraver includes a controller and a comparator, wherein the controller is configured to have the laser engrave a predefined pattern at a predefined position on the product on the plate to form an engraved pattern on the product and have the camera capture a position of the engraved pattern, have the comparator compare the predefined position and the position captured by the camera to determine a difference therebetween, and use the difference to calibrate the laser.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a card comprising a transparent window. The window comprises a front side and a back side. The method comprises steps of printing a color picture on the back side of the window and laser engraving the front side of the window. Also provided is a device configured to carry out the above-described method and a card manufactured with the above-described method.

Abstract: A method for applying a layer having a relief on a substrate includes steps of securing the substrate, applying a layer of a curable liquid on the substrate, bringing a mould having a relief being the negative of the relief to be provided on the substrate, into contact with a part of the upper surface of the liquid layer, curing the liquid layer while the mould is in contact with the liquid and separating the mould from the substrate. Initially the mould is brought into contact with the liquid in a bent position while the substrate is kept flat and subsequently the mould is brought into contact over an increasing surface area keeping the mould in a bent position until the complete liquid layer is in contact with the mould.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing a movable substrate by means of laser, wherein the processing results in the release of material separated from the substrate, wherein during processing of the substrate a higher pressure prevails on the side of the substrate where the substrate is impinged by the laser beam than on the other side of the substrate, and to a device for performing such a processing, wherein the device comprises guide means for guiding the substrate and laser processing means adapted to cast onto the substrate a laser spot which processes the substrate in a laser processing zone, and comprises means for generating a higher pressure on the side of the substrate where the substrate is impinged by the laser beam than on the other side of the substrate.
