Abstract: At least one embodiment of this invention pertains to a method for tracking activities related to a tracking object such as an advertisement section in real time. The method includes maintaining a real-time communication channel with a user device, wherein the user device renders an application or a web page including a tracking object. Messages for events that a user of the user device is paying attention to or no longer paying attention to the tracking object are received from the user device through the real-time communication channel. The events are recorded to a database. A report for the tracking object is generated, wherein the report contains a number of users who have paid attention to the tracking object and the duration of time that each of the users has been paying attention to the tracking object.

Abstract: At least one embodiment of this invention pertains to an abstraction layer that provides a consistent interface, with client-side and server-side implementations, to allow web client to interact with other web clients (that are connected to a common interactive event) in real-time over standard web ports without the web clients being tied to a specific real-time communications platform. At least some embodiments described herein contemplate methods and systems for establishing web communication among multiple web clients by providing a layer of abstraction between the web clients and the interactive session using interfaces to an Open Real-Time Connectivity (ORTC) layer. The system may use authentication methods to validate the web communications. The system may be implemented on a scalable, load-balanced, and fault-tolerant network.

Abstract: At least one embodiment of this invention pertains to a method for publishing real-time content on a website hosted by a web server. The method comprises inserting a real-time markup language tag in an HTML web page hosted by the web server; connecting, by an Open Real-Time Connectivity (ORTC) interface of the web server, a web client to the web server; monitoring, by the web client, an ORTC channel, wherein the ORTC channel is determined by the real-time markup language tag; receiving, at the web client, from the ORTC channel, a broadcasted message; and publishing in real-time at least a portion of the broadcasted message inside an HTML tag on the HTML web page without refreshing the HTML web page, wherein the HTML tag is determined by the real-time markup language tag.
