The fibers of the nonwoven fabric sheet have a fineness of 0.2 denier or less and the fabric sheet is formed by the melt blow method. The needle felt layer preferably has a weight of from 150 g/m.sup.2 to 900 g/m.sup.2, a longitudinal tensile strength of at least 20 kg/5 cm, a transverse tensile strength of at least 20 kg/5 cm and a bursting strength of at least 10 kg/cm.sup.2.

    Abstract: An adjustable knot-disalignment device for use in a loom in which weaving is effected by passing a shuttle containing a cop around which a weft yarn is wound between upper and lower warp yarns. The adjusting device includes a disk-shaped reel provided with a circumferential channel for accommodating a wound thread thereon, a thread holding device projecting outward of the circumferential channel of the reel for holding threads and a hooking device for hooking the threads held by the holding device and rotating the threads, thereby winding the threads onto the circumferential channel of the reel. By controlling the number of times the thread is wound around the disc-shaped reel, the knots which connect the threads from two different cops may be made to be disaligned in the woven fabric.

A rotary arm plate on which the hand is mounted, a drive device for rotating the rotary arm plate and for straightly moving the rotary arm plate in the axial direction, and a drive shaft for moving the rotary arm plate to an exchange position for the cop. A thread tying device holds and ties together the treads of the old and new cops.

    Abstract: A papermaker's felt having an elongated base fabric, at least one batt layer, and means to interconnect the opposite longitudinal ends of the base fabric to make an endless felt. The endless felt is made by providing seaming loops on opposite longitudinal ends of the base fabric and bringing the loops into interdigitated engagement on the papter making machine; introducing a core element into the common bight of said loops to connect them; and finally needling the batt layer so that the abutting ends thereof (which abut each other at right angles to the longitudinal direction and obliquely to the thickness direction) are engaged without any opening between them.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a pressure belt for use with an extended nip press in a paper making machine. The belt is characterized by a base fabric formed of a synthetic fiber filament, and formed with a synthetic resin layer on each outer and inner peripheral side thereof. The outer peripheral side which becomes in contact with the felt is provided with a number of drain channels. In the method of manufacturing, a base fabric in the form of an endless belt is trained around a heating cylinder, guide rolls and stretching rolls. The outer peripheral surface of the base fabric is coated with a curable synthetic resin as the fabric is moved. The layer of synthetic resin is semi-cured by heating means including the heating cylinder. This process of coating and semi-curing is repeated until desired thickness of the resin layer is obtained. Drain channels are then formed in the semi-cured resin by an embossed roll whereupon the resin layer is cured and then ground to provide a desired thickness.

    Abstract: A discharge wire cleaning device for an electric dust collector in which when the dust accumulates to a certain extent on the discharge wires which are arranged vertically with each end secured to the frame, the compressed gas is ejected from the gas nozzle at the base of the discharge wires to apply pressure to the skirt and drive it upwardly thereby removing the dust on the discharge wires, after which the sliders are allowed to move down by gravity to their lowest portion. A damper may be provided on the upper portion of each discharge wire so that the slider is urged downwardly against the friction of the dust still remaining on the wire and can be moved up and down repeatedly. A brush may be provided on the slider so that the dust is effectively scraped off the discharge wires.
