Abstract: An airbag igniter having an initiator charge in an inner case and an output charge in a surrounding outer case, has a first metal header closing the inner case and a glass seal providing feed through of one or more electrical connections to the initiator charge through the first header. The outer case has a second metal header fitted to it. The second header surrounds the first header in a spaced relationship maintained by a second glass seal. The second glass seal electrically isolates the second header and outer case from the inner header for protection against accidental ignition. The dual glass seals provide protection against maloperation due to gas leakage. A ceramic washer in axial compression between the outer header and a flange of the inner header provides added assurance against failure of the second glass seal.
Abstract: An isocyanate-reactive polymer comprising the reaction product of: (a) an isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer formed by reacting a polymeric polyol having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 500 with a stoichiometric excess of an organic polyisocyanate, and (b) a stoichiometric excess, relative to the free isocyanate groups present in the prepolymer, of an imino-functional or enamine containing compound having a molecular weight less than about 750. The polymer is useful in reaction injection molding systems as an isocyanate-reactive ingredient.

Abstract: Melt crystallized xylitol possesses an agglomerated crystalline structure under a scanning electron microscope; an increased surface area relative to aqueous crystallized xylitol, of at least about 0.12 square meters per gram; and unexpected hardness values when compressed into a tablet. Chewing gum compositions comprising such melt crystallized xylitol are much less tacky and gritty compared to gum compositions comprising equal proportions of conventional aqueous crystallized xylitol of similar particle size distribution.
Abstract: The present invention relates to films or sheets of linear polyester containing glass spheres having a certain particle size distribution and in a certain amount based upon the weight of the polyester film. The addition of the glass spheres improves several properties of the film, including the dynamic coefficient of friction. Preferably, a second film additive, fumed silica, of a controlled particle size distribution and weight is additionally added to the film. The addition of the fumed silica additionally improves several properties of the polyester film, including the static coefficient of friction of the film.

Abstract: The process of the present invention provides 3-carboalkoxypyrrolidones by the cyclization of a malonate, followed by reduction with hydrogen in the presence of a noble metal catalyst. The products are useful as intermediates for pesticides.
Abstract: The present invention relates to spiroisoindolines that are antagonists at the phencyclidine receptor of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor complex and which are useful when such antagonism is desired such as in the treatment of neurological disorders. The invention further provides processes for preparing the spiroisoindolines, intermediates useful for their synthesis, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and methods for their use.
Abstract: A compound of formula (I): ##STR1## or a salt, enamine or the like, acylate, sulphonate, carbamate or ether derivative thereof; wherein X, X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are independently oxygen or sulphur, R.sup.1 is an optionally substituted heterocyclic or cycloalkyl group, and Y is an optionally substituted C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkylene group which is optionally interposed by an oxygen atom, a group>S(O).sub.pa group ##STR2## or an optionally mono-substituted nitrogen atom, wherein p is O, 1 or 2, s is 0.sub.1 or 1 and R.sup.b is alkyl or alkoxy; provided that when X, X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are oxygen, R.sup.1 is not pyridyl or pyrimidinyl. Processes for the preparation of these compounds and herbicidal compositions containing them are also described and claimed.
