Abstract: In general, the present invention relates to exercise devices and systems that can receive and run workout programs that include control command subsets that control the moveable members of a plurality of different exercise devices. Exercise devices of the present invention are able to ignore the control command subset(s) that do not control their moveable member(s) and recognize the control command subset(s) that control their moveable member(s). Exercise devices of the present invention are further able to, if necessary, perform a sizing restriction to the relevant control command subset(s). Motivational content may also be modified in connection with or independently from a sizing restriction made to the control commands. The present invention also relates to a method for controlling one or more exercise device with a workout file that includes control command subsets that control the moveable members of a plurality of different exercise devices.

The runaway mitigation mechanism at least mitigates a motor runaway condition.
Abstract: A vertical stepping machine includes a frame, a crank wheel connected to the frame, a crank arm extending away from a rotational axis of the crank wheel, and a pedal beam connected to the crank arm. A linkage assembly is connected to the frame at a fixed frame location and to the pedal beam at a fixed pedal beam location. A first linkage member of the linkage assembly has a length that forces the pedal beam to travel along an elliptical path as the crank wheel rotates.
Abstract: A cable exercise machine includes a first pull cable and a second pull cable incorporated into a frame. Each of the first pull cable and the second pull cable are linked to at least one resistance mechanism. The at least one resistance mechanism includes a flywheel and a magnetic unit arranged to resist movement of the flywheel.
Abstract: Providing interaction with media content includes broadcasting media content to a display device, associating a downloadable fitness program with the media content with synchronization indicators to synchronize the downloadable fitness program with the media content, and controlling an operational parameter of an exercise machine based on physical characteristics of an environment depicted in the media content.
Abstract: A footwear apparatus includes a sensor in the footwear apparatus positioned to monitor an activity technique of the user when the footwear apparatus is joined with a foot of the user and a feedback generator is arranged to produce at least one of a haptic communication or an optical communication to the user in response to detecting a pattern in the activity technique.
Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame and an exercise deck. The exercise deck includes a platform, a first pulley connected to a front portion of the platform, a second pulley connected to a rear portion of the platform, and a tread belt surrounding the first pulley and the second pulley. The exercise device also includes a motor in mechanical communication with at least one of the first pulley and the second pulley to drive the tread belt and an energy efficiency indicator that actives in response to determining that a power load needed to operate the exercise device is below a predetermined energy efficient threshold during a performance of an exercise.
Abstract: A system for dispensing a nutrient includes a dispensing device having a container, an orifice defined in the container, and a receiver that receives communications from an activity collecting device. The container dispenses the nutrient contained therein through the orifice in response to a communication from the activity collecting device.

Abstract: A dumbbell assembly includes a selection mechanism including a selector arranged to adjust a connection of the weight connected to an adjustable dumbbell and a processor and memory where the memory includes a programmed code executable by the processor to receive a message from a remote device.
Abstract: An exercise machine includes a weight attachment connected to a track where the weight attachment is shaped to attach to a support structure of an independent adjustable dumbbell and to carry the support structure as the weight attachment travels along the track. A cradle of the exercise machine has a trough sized to receive the independent adjustable dumbbell, and an input mechanism in communication with a selection mechanism incorporated into the exercise machine. The selection mechanism includes a selector arranged to adjust a connection of a weight set associated with the independent adjustable dumbbell, and a subset of the weight set is carried by the support structure as the weight attachment moves along the track based at least in part on an input into the input mechanism.
Abstract: A vertical stepping machine includes a frame, a crank wheel connected to the frame, a crank wheel connected to the frame, a pedal beam having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is in mechanical communication with the crank wheel, a pedal connected to the second end of the pedal beam, a linkage assembly connected to the frame and to the pedal beam, an arm support rotatably connected to the frame, an arm linkage connecting the arm support to the linkage assembly, and a rotary resistance mechanism positioned above the crank wheel when the vertical stepping machine is in an upright orientation. The pedal beam moves in an elliptical path when the crank wheel rotates and the elliptical path has a vertical major axis and a horizontal minor axis when the vertical stepping machine is in an upright position.
Abstract: An exercise machine includes a frame, a movable element movably attached to the frame that is movable in the performance of an exercise, and a magnetic assembly attached to the frame. The magnetic assembly has a magnetic unit movably positioned adjacent to a non-ferromagnetic material.
Abstract: An exercise machine includes a frame and a movable element movably attached to the frame that is movable in a performance of an exercise. The exercise machine also includes a friction reducing assembly with a first part attached to the movable element and a second part attached elsewhere on the exercise machine. The friction reducing assembly includes a non-ferromagnetic material and a magnet that moves relative to the non-ferromagnetic material as the movable element moves. The relative movement of the non-ferromagnetic material and the magnet generate a force that reduces friction between the non-ferromagnetic material and the magnet.
Abstract: An exercise machine includes a joint assembly. The joint assembly includes a pivot rod, a first component connected to the pivot rod, a second component connected to the pivot rod, and a bushing mounted on the pivot rod between the first component and the second component. The bushing includes a body with a first side and a second side, the body comprising an elastic, flexible material; a first plate connected to the first side of the body; and a second plate connected to the second side of the body.
Abstract: A treadmill deck may include a first side rail, a second side rail aligned with the first side rail, a first pulley connected to a first end of the first and second side rails, and a second pulley connected to a second end of the first and second side rails. A tread belt is disposed around the first pulley and the second pulley. Further, a first cover is connected to the first rail that spans at least a first portion of a first mid-region of the first rail and cantilevers over a portion of the tread belt that provides an unstable footing. Also, the tread belt moves with respect to the first cover.
