    Abstract: A cable-raceway providing electromagnetic shielding has rectangular channels defined by longitudinal-folds of a tape which comprises mesh having a warp of bare wires running lengthwise and a weft of a single, bare-wire. Metal brackets support it with the base of each bracket extending transversely under the raceway. The channels nest between arms upstanding from the base, and a plastic insert fits over the tape to enhance electrical contact between the mesh and bracket for electrical ground-bonding of the raceway. The insert provides teeth down the walls of each channel for engagement by cable-retainers to push them down into the channels for retaining underlying cables. Further support in the channels is provided by plastic straps that extend under the raceway and to which the channels are secured using inserts and cable-retainers corresponding to the inserts and retainers. One face of the mesh is covered by an electrically-insulating sheet.

The flexible element may be an end-pad of wrapped shielding of the main bundle that envelops the shielded branch bundles and is closed onto them. Alternatively, it may be a separate shielding element that is clamped by a clip or strap onto the shielding of the main bundle to sandwich folded-tags drawn out from the ends of the branch-bundle shields, onto a metal ring or collar through which the main-bundle cables pass before separating into the branch bundles. The separate element is closed tightly onto the individual branch bundles by draw-strings, ties or other fasteners.

    Abstract: A bundle of electrical cables (20) are shielded from electromagnetic interference by an elongate tape (1) wrapped widthwise round the bundle with its longitudinal edges (8,11) overlapping one another. The tape (1) includes a woven mesh (2) of bare-metal strands (5) sandwiched between outer and inner layers (4,3) of sheet-plastics, the weave being a narrow-fabric weave having warp strands (5) running longitudinally of the tape (1) and a single unbroken weft-strand (6). The mesh (2) is bare on the outside along one longitudinal margin (11) and also on the inside along the other longitudinal margin (8) for direct electrical contact between them within the overlap in establishing closed electrical circuits encircling the cable-bundle throughout the length of the tape (1). The margin (11) of the mesh (2) innermost in the wrap may instead be insulated, merely adding insignificant capacitance into the otherwise purely-resistive encircling circuits.

    Abstract: An electrical connector has a conductive member formed from several sheets of a resilient conductive material, such as a wire mesh or conductive textile. The sheets are layered and joined together at intervals to form separate passages between the sheets through the member. Screened wires in the connector pass through respective passages and the member is compressed about the wires by a strap tightened about the member so that electrical connection is made to the wire screens. The resilience of the member means that the strap can be released and retightened, allowing removal and replacement of wires.

    Abstract: A device (1) comprising a flexible and resilient sleeve (2) made of rubber, rubber-like, plastics or similar material and a metal end termination (3) which has a screw thread connection with an electrical component (4) in the form of a multi-pin connector or plug. The end termination (3) has an interface (5) for conductors or wires of the multi-core cable and a body (6) which has a tapered entry (7) in which is received the sleeve (2) and metal braids (8) which screen the cable (9). There is a seal in the form of an O-ring (10) at the blind end of the entry (7) to prevent moisture getting into the cable. The other end of the sleeve (2) from the body (6) is mechanically secured as by adhesive to the other surface of an outer sheath of the multi-core cable (9) at anchor (11). To re-enter connection, the termination (3) and component (4) are unscrewed and pulled apart in direction (x) so that the convulsions of the sleeve (2) bunch up.
