  • Patent number: 10480996
Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a light source, a housing coupled to the light source, a light sensor, and a sensor cover over the light sensor and coupled to the housing. The housing includes an opening through which light generated by the light source is emitted towards an area of interest, and an exposed surface that reflects light such that the housing appears at a first color. The sensor cover includes a front surface that reflects light such that the sensor cover appears at a second color, which is substantially similar to the first color, and has an average transmittance greater than 10% within a desired wavelength band. By providing the sensor cover with the reflectance and average transmittance as described, a functional sensor cover that aesthetically blends with a lighting fixture is achieved.

  • Patent number: 10451253
Abstract: The present invention relates to different embodiments of lighting fixtures, such as troffers. A lens can be placed between a light engine and a reflector and secured in place by crimping portions of the light engine, reflector, or both to prevent the lens from moving. Troffers according to the present invention can lack a dedicated heat sink, instead sufficiently dissipating heat through the light engine. This can significantly reduce the weight of the troffer. Emitter panels can be directly mounted on a light engine inner surface, or on an internal reflector within the light engine.

  • Patent number: 10451251
Abstract: Lamps and bulbs are disclosed generally comprising different combinations and arrangements of a light source, a reflective optical element, and a separate diffusing layer. This arrangement allows for the fabrication of lamps and bulbs that are efficient, reliable and cost effective and can provide an essentially omni-directional emission pattern, even with a light source comprised of an arrangement of LEDs. The lamps according to the present invention can also comprise thermal management features that provide for efficient dissipation of heat from the LEDs, which in turn allows the LEDs to operate at lower temperatures. The lamps can also comprise optical elements to help change the emission pattern from the generally directional pattern of the LEDs to a more omni-directional pattern.

  • Publication number: 20190297704
Abstract: Lighting devices and methods utilize multiple independently controllable groups of solid state light emitters of different dominant wavelengths, with operation of the emitter groups being automatically adjusted by processor(s) to provide desired illumination. Operation of the emitter groups may be further affected by sensors and/or user input commands (e.g., sound patterns, gesture patterns, or signal transmission). Operation may be adjusted to compensate for presence, absence, intensity, and/or color point of ambient or incident light. Presence of five or more groups of solid state light emitters provide desirable luminous flux, color point, correlated color temperature (CCT), color rendering index (CRI), CRI R9, and luminous efficacy characteristics of aggregate emissions over a wide range of CCT values, and may permit adjustment of vividness (e.g., relative gamut) and/or melatonin suppression characteristics for a selected color point or CCT.
