  • Patent number: 11079076
Abstract: An edge lit fixture. A housing provides the basic shape and structure of the fixture. The housing is constructed from discrete segments including lens frames, side frames, and end frames, which can be used in many different combinations to create the desired fixture. The assembled housing defines an open central area. One or more light panels are arranged around the perimeter of the housing such that at least some of the light is emitted toward the central area. The open central area of the housing allows for existing materials, such as a ceiling tile, for example, to function as a back surface of the fixture.

  • Patent number: 11076471
Abstract: A lighting management system includes communications circuitry, processing circuitry, and a memory. The memory stores instructions, which, when executed by the processing circuitry cause the lighting management system to receive a message from a lighting fixture via the communications circuitry, the message indicating a proximal presence of a detected mobile device to the lighting fixture, and performing one or more actions in response to receipt of the message. By performing the one or more actions upon receipt of the message as described above, a lighting system may be provided with additional functionality that enhances the lighting system.

  • Patent number: 11032885
Abstract: A single solid state luminaire product is field-configurable to a plurality of discrete coordinated color temperature (CCT) and/or maximum luminosity settings. A field-actuated control circuit may control a current ratio control circuit, which directs drive current from a power supply to selected ones, or in selected ratios to multiple ones, of heterogeneous LED strings. Additionally or alternatively the control circuit may control the power supply, to select an overall maximum level of drive current, which determines the maximum luminosity of the luminaire. Inputs for CCT and/or maximum luminosity are input to the field-actuated control circuit prior to the luminaire being removed from its product packaging. Embodiments allow a distributor to order and stock a large inventory of substantially identical luminaires from the manufacturer, yet still offer customers a variety of different CCT and/or maximum luminosity products.

  • Patent number: 11029002
Abstract: Optic couplings, including optic retention rings, are described herein that require reduced tooling or no tooling for optic installation on luminaires. Briefly, a retention ring for coupling an optic to a luminaire comprises radial alignment assemblies comprising a base, and a protrusion extending from a surface of the base for engaging a coupling assembly of the optic. At least one radial locking assembly is offset from the radial alignment assemblies, the radial locking assembly comprising a vertical protrusion for engaging an aperture of the optic coupling assembly and locking rotation of the optic relative to the radial alignment assemblies.

  • Patent number: 11029008
Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a housing, a light source, and a diffuser. The light source is mounted in the housing. The diffuser is also mounted in the housing such that light emitted from the light source is provided through the diffuser towards an area of interest. The diffuser is configured such that a color of the diffuser is based on one or more characteristics of the light emitted from the light source. Providing the diffuser such that the color thereof is based on one or more characteristics of the light emitted from the light source allows the aesthetic appearance of the lighting fixture to be changed. Further, it allows the lighting fixture to better simulate outdoor environments. Finally, it allows the lighting fixture to convey information to individuals near the lighting fixture without being disruptive.

  • Patent number: 10991215
Abstract: An intelligent sign, such as an exit or other informational sign, is equipped with control circuitry, at least one sensor, and in certain embodiments, a communication interface. The control circuitry can monitor sensor data from the associated sensors. The sensor data bears on various conditions or events associated with the area that is associated with the exit sign. Based on the sensor data, the intelligent sign can provide one or more operations. A sign operation may include any operation provided by the intelligent sign. When equipped with the communication interface, the intelligent sign may control its own internal operation and/or control the operation of other entities based on the sensor data, the type of sensor data, the content of the sensor data, and the like. The intelligent sign may also share sensor data or other information derived from the sensor data with other entities.
