Abstract: The technology relates to a beverage cartridge. The beverage cartridge may comprise a filter, an enclosure, a coating, and a supplement. The filter may have a predetermined permeability to permit a fluid to flow therethrough. The enclosure may at least substantially surrounding said filter. The coating may be arranged on at least one predetermined portion of the filter, wherein the coating decreases the permeability of the filter to control the flow of the fluid therethrough. The supplement may be arranged on the filter, the supplement adapted to be dissolved or dispersed in the fluid.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a beverage cartridge which includes a filter. The filter, comprising filter material, is arranged to separate the cartridge into first and second compartments. The first compartment stores a first substance and is positioned adjacent the second compartment. A coating is arranged on the filter material and the coating increases the puncture resistance of the filter material.
