A housing assembly has a plurality of holders for at least one recording medium, by which the recording media can be transported out of the housing assembly into a convenient position for removal. Each holder has a front wall for covering the storage chambers of the housing assembly. To be able to insert and remove the recording medium even in the dark without requiring prolonged attention, the housing assembly has an electrical connection to the motor vehicle's electrical system in order to supply a light source arrangement. When holders have been pushed home in the housing assembly, at least one partial area of the front wall thereof is able to be illuminated so as to be visible from the outside. Feed outlets for each holder are arranged in the housing assembly so that they are in light transmission contact with feed inlets of the holders when these have been pushed home in the housing assembly.
