  • Patent number: 4232612
Abstract: A wall lining sheet, particularly, but not exclusively, for lining the interior end walls of freight railway cars. The wall lining sheet comprises a metal sheet having a plurality of spaced-apart attachment tabs each defined by a configured slot extending through the sheet. Each of the tabs has a bendable free end portion whereby the bendable free end portion may be displaced outwardly from the plane of the sheet. The wall lining is particularly useful in relining the interior surface of corrugated end walls of freight railway cars after the end wall has been deformed and reshaped substantially to its original state.

  • Patent number: 4169415
Abstract: A metal sheet for lining side walls of a freight railway car having a plurality of spaced-apart vertical wall supports. The metal sheet comprises a plurality of spaced-apart elongated channels formed across a flat surface of the sheet. Each of the channels has a bottom wall spaced from the flat surface of the sheet. A plurality of spaced-apart apertures are provided in the bottom wall of at least some of the channels to permit an attachment element to connect the sheet to an associated one of the vertical wall supports. The channels are configured to receive an anchor bar having an attachment part and securable ends. The securable ends are weldable in the channels in close proximity to an associated one of the apertures so that the anchor bar is rigidly connected, through its weld and the bottom wall, in close proximity to the support, whereby cargo retaining strapping, or the like, may be attached to the attachment part to secure cargo in the railway car.

  • Patent number: 3987516
Abstract: A lock hinge preferably, but not exclusively, for use with a hatch cover structure for a transportation vehicle. The lock hinge comprises a latch bracket and a base bracket. The base bracket is provided with a pivot bar. The latch bracket has a saddle member defining a hinge seat with a mouth opening for receiving at least a portion of the pivot bar therein. The latch bracket further is provided with a latch member having a lever end and a gate end. The latch member is interconnected to the saddle member by a flexible plate whereby the gate end is displaceably positioned adjacent the mouth opening of the hinge seat to retain the pivot bar captive in the hinge seat to interconnect both the latch and base brackets. When secured to a hatch cover, which normally closes the hatch opening in a wall of the vehicle, at least one lock hinge is secured on a respective one of a pair of opposed sides of the cover.

  • Patent number: 3945164
Abstract: A nailable hollow structural member comprising an elongated hollow member of sheet metal formed to define opposed clamping walls and end walls spaced apart between the clamping walls. The clamping walls extend in substantially parallel planes. An elongated boss is formed in each of the clamping walls and extends longitudinally of the tubular member in alignment with one another. One of the clamping walls and one of the end walls has a connectable portion opposed to one another. Spacer means is provided for maintaining one of the clamping walls in juxtaposition with a clamping wall of another hollow member and spaced apart by the spacer means to form an elongated opening between the hollow member constituting a nail receiving slot. Means are also provided for movably securing two or more of the hollow members with the clamping walls juxtaposed. The elongated boss in both of the clamping walls deforms a nail inserted in the slot to retain it therein.
