Patent number: 8577917Abstract: Certain examples provide a clinical cache system for retrieval of varying clinical content. The system includes an input to include a request for a content item and one or more parameters associated with the content item. The system includes a metadata cache to store one or more sets of metadata representing parameters associated with one or more content items. The one or more sets of metadata in the metadata cache are used to identify and distinguish one or more content items with respect to the request. The system includes a content cache to store one or more content items. The one or more content items are searchable based on associated metadata. The metadata cache and the content cache facilitate the request by first querying the metadata cache and then querying the content cache based on a result of the metadata cache query.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2011Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignees: General Electric Company, IHC Health Services Inc.Inventors: Wade Curtis Hadlock, Scott Price

Patent number: 7958485Abstract: A method for managing electronic content includes obtaining the content and associating top level contents of the obtained content with a deployment set. The top level content includes content that is specified by a user for deployment. The method also includes determining all dependencies of dependent content for each of the associated top level contents in the deployment set, incorporating the determined dependencies into discharge instructions for the deployment set, and generating a content deployment block including the associated top level contents, the dependent content, and the discharge instructions for the deployment set. The discharge instructions include dependency ordered deployment commands.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2007Date of Patent: June 7, 2011Assignees: General Electric Company, IHC Health Services, Inc.Inventors: David John Steiner, Timothy Paul Hanna

Publication number: 20100306013Abstract: A method for scheduling a medical service employing at least one computer system is described. A request for a medical service is received at the computer system. The medical service is scheduled for a requested date. At least one nonpayment exposure factor is analyzed to determine whether providing the medical service involves a nonpayment exposure to a medical service provider. The medical service may then be rescheduled for a date after the requested date if the analysis indicates nonpayment exposure to the medical service provider.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 28, 2010Publication date: December 2, 2010Applicant: IHC Health Services, Inc.Inventors: Terilyn Mark, Neera Gupta, Denee Wolf, Dominic Foscato, Tim Dobkins, Shay Lange, Amy Thomas, Raelene Worsham, Sandra Shea

Patent number: 7544475Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of human genetics. Specifically, the present invention relates to methods and materials used to isolate and detect a human depression predisposing gene, specifically the apoptotic protease activating factor 1 (APAF1) gene, some mutant alleles of which cause susceptibility to depression. More specifically, the invention relates to germline mutations in the APAF1 gene and their use in the diagnosis of predisposition to depression. The invention also relates to the prophylaxis and/or therapy of depression associated with a mutation in the APAF1 gene. The invention further relates to the screening of drugs for depression therapy. Finally, the invention relates to the screening of the APAF1 gene for mutations/alterations, which are useful for diagnosing the predisposition to depression.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2007Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: IHC Health Services, Inc.Inventors: Donna Shattuck, Deanna Russell, Victor Abkevich, Chris Neff, Lisa Cannon-Albright, Nicola Camp

Publication number: 20070257788Abstract: A system and method for providing a safety alert for a device is disclosed. The invention minimizes or prevents the affects of programming errors and/or provides enhanced alert information to a monitoring healthcare provider, wherein the alert information may relate to a potential safety concern. The method includes monitoring data transmitted from a device (e.g., infusion pump) and comparing the data to pre-established rules. When the data violates the rules, the system compiles an alert information packet, wherein the alert information packet includes information related to the device and the data. The system then transmits the alert information packet and/or an enhanced alert to multiple computer screens in a particular area.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2006Publication date: November 8, 2007Applicant: IHC HEALTH SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Rick Carlson, R. Publication number: 20020164598Abstract: A process for evaluating the genetic sensitivity of individual patients to medications and to appropriately prescribing or not prescribing medication according to established correlations between the genetic sensitivity and the specific medication is described. In the present preferred embodiment/example, this invention provides a process for determining whether a person, having either cardiovascular disease or cardiovascular risk factors, has a genetic characteristic which would indicate whether the ordinarily prescribed statin medication is likely to be effective or even detrimental.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2001Publication date: November 7, 2002Applicant: IHC Health Services, Inc.Inventors: Joseph B. Patent number: 6292771Abstract: A natural language understanding system is described which provides for the generation of concept codes from free-text medical data. A probabilistic model of lexical semantics, in the preferred embodiment of the invention implemented by means of a Bayesian network, is used to determine the most probable concept or meaning associated with a sentence or phrase. The inventive method and system includes the steps of checking for synonyms, checking spelling, performing syntactic parsing, transforming text to its “deep” or semantic form, and performing a semantic analysis based on a probabilistic model of lexical semantics. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, spell checking and transformational processing as well as semantic analysis make use of semantic probabilistic determinations.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1998Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: IHC Health Services, Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Patent number: 6148814Abstract: A method and system for managing mechanical ventilation of patients with respiratory disorders is described. The main objective of the system is to generate executable instructions for patient care which take into account a large number of parameters of patient condition and ventilation. Data regarding the state of the patient are stored in a database. Patient data are processed according to a set of protocols which contain rules for patient care decisions arranged in a logical sequence to generate detailed, executable instructions for patient care. Instructions are updated when new data are entered into the database. The data can be acquired in an automated fashion, or the clinician can be instructed to collect and enter new data into the clinical database. Likewise, patient care instructions can be carried out automatically or manually, but it is preferred that instructions are carried out manually as a safety check.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1996Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: IHC Health Services, IncInventors: Terry P. Patent number: 5732150Abstract: A method and system for segmenting images of samples stained with two, three, or more stains accurately and reliably into multiple single-color images which represent the mass density of the stain at each position in the sample. The system includes a computer-controlled microscope and CCD camera, and at least one computer which includes data storage media for storing image data and which runs software for controlling image acquisition and analysis. To analyze tissue stained with N stains, images must be obtained at N different wavelengths, from multiply stained and singly stained samples. Relative stain mass densities are calculated with the use of the ratio of absorptivities measured at different wavelengths. The theoretical and practical basis for implementing the method with two, three, or more stains is presented. A method for selecting the wavelengths which provide optimal image accuracy and resolution is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1995Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: IHC Health Services, Inc.Inventors: Ruixia Zhou, Elizabeth H.
