  • Patent number: 7864829
Abstract: A dropping model electrostatic levitation furnace which puts a charged sample in levitation state by an electric field generated between electrodes and subjects the sample to heat treatment, in which a drop tube evacuatable in vacuum is connected vertically at the lower side of a furnace body to allow the sample to drop through the drop tube with a beam irradiating optical system having a heating laser beam. This brings experimental results which the influence of an electric field and gravity is eliminated sufficiently by means of a furnace having comparatively simple constitution, and also enables to reduce the cost drastically with high experimental environment.

Abstract: A vegetation detector 10 includes a first imaging section 11, a second imaging section 12, a reflectance ratio calculating section 13, a determining section 14 and a recording section 15. The first imaging section 11 images light with a predetermined wavelength band of near infrared light. The second imaging section 12 images light with a water absorption wavelength band in short wave infrared light. The reflectance ratio calculating section 13 calculates a ratio of the reflectance of light with the near infrared light wavelength band to the light reflectance of light with the water absorption wavelength band as a reflectance ratio. The determining section 14 determines whether observed subjects are vegetations or not by comparing the reflectance ratio calculated by the reflectance ratio calculating section 13 with a threshold value recorded in the recording section 15.

Abstract: An end burning type gas generator includes a hollow cylindrical combustor, a propellant which is densely charged in the combustor concentrically and in a plurality of layers without leaving a large void in an internal cross section and which has the same sectional area in each of the layers, and an interstructure which separates the plurality of layers from each other and which connects only at a turning portion at an axial end. The end burning of the propellant sequentially progresses via the turning portion, beginning with an outermost layer or an innermost layer. The turning portion includes an end outer plate which continuously surrounds the ends of an inner propellant and an outer propellant, and a burning rate increasing member which is provided along the inner surface of the end outer plate to increase the burning rate of the propellant. The end outer plate is shaped such that the burning area at the turning portion remains substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 7456859
Abstract: The present invention is an image pickup device provided with a CMOS camera which is provided with a telecentric lens to photograph a sample put in a levitation state at the center inside an electrostatic levitation furnace, a metal halide light source which is positioned on the opposite side of the sample from the CMOS camera to irradiate light with a wavelength of 400 to 450 nm toward the sample, and a digital signal processor which performs image processing for enhancing an edge of an image captured by the CMOS camera in real time to output a position of center of gravity of the sample put in the levitation state, where a blue filter is attached to the CMOS camera. Even if the sample becomes incandescent due to a high temperature, contrast of the sample against a background can be obtained by the image pickup device.

  • Patent number: 7447250
Abstract: An electrostatic levitation furnace wherein main electrodes opposed to each other within a vacuum chamber are arranged at intervals to form interspaces between them. Auxiliary electrodes are arranged to correspond to each of the electrostatic field generating interspaces, and laser irradiators are arranged above the uppermost main electrode and under the lowermost main electrode, and the main electrode positioned midway between the uppermost and lowest one has a through-hole on an optical path of laser beam which a sample can be passed through. When two species of samples are fused together, regardless of whether or not the samples are conductors, the furnace has the function of melting the levitated samples and fusing them together while maintaining each of the temperatures of the samples, and consequently this permits realization of fusion in a state free of external interference.

  • Publication number: 20070252113
Abstract: There is disclosed a gradient structure material comprising a substrate 1 and a functional material 2 formed on the substrate. The gradient structure material is thermally treated while a desired gradient temperature is applied to a specific direction and a specific region of the functional material on the substrate. Consequently, without adding “gradient structure” of a component concentration, a content of oxide, or a crystal structure, the functional material on the substrate is provided with useful function which is not heretofore existed, or a performance can be enhanced unlike a conventional technique.

  • Patent number: 6940811
Abstract: A redundant information processing system with sufficient reliability is provided at a moderate cost without any part that could be a single fault point in the system. In the redundant information processing system in which an actuator 5 is controlled based on a signal from a sensor 4, each of processing devices 1A to 1C collects command signals from other processing devices and determines which command signal to be valid according to a logical decision, for example, a majority decision. When the command signals of more than two of the processing devices including the relevant processing device which determines are valid, the command signals are output according to priority while a control information blocking signal is output to a processing device other than those which are valid.
