Patent number: 9562642Abstract: Provided is a foamable filling device that includes a foamable material and is disposed within a hollow structural member. The foamable filling device includes a carrier member and an opening/closing member. The carrier member includes a through hole and a mounting portion to which the foamable material is mounted. The opening/closing member includes a cover portion formed in a size capable of blocking the through hole; and a biasing portion that biases the cover portion, and the opening/closing member is fittable to the carrier member. The opening/closing member is configured such that, when the opening/closing member is fitted to the carrier member, the biasing portion is elastically deformed and biases the cover portion to thereby bring the cover portion into contact with a seat portion provided at an end of the through hole of the carrier member.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2012Date of Patent: February 7, 2017Assignees: IIDA INDUSTRY CO., LTD., HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Koji Nomura, Hiroyuki Sakai

Patent number: 8726590Abstract: A foam filler is provided with a base for forming a foam and placed inside a hollow structure having a through hole. An opening having an area larger than the opening of the through hole is created in the base and surrounding the through hole. The foam filler is provided with an upper wall which follows the flow and the thermal expansion of the base at the time of heating. The upper wall closes at least part of the opening of the through hole when following the flow and the thermal expansion of the base, and thus prevents the base from entering into the through hole. The upper wall is provided in a peripheral portion of the opening and placed in a part of an area surrounding the through hole.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2007Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Iida Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenichi Miura, Koichiro Ohbai, Koji Tokuyama

Patent number: 6887060Abstract: A void filling device which facilitates insertion of a void filling material into a tubular component and hold of the void filling material therewithin. The device comprises a holder for void filling material which is designed to retain the void filling material to fill a void space by expanding with heat and is of a different material from the void filling material so as to be elastically deformed and inserted into the void space. When the cross-sectional configuration of the void space of the tubular component is a rectangle, the holder is formed into a plate-like configuration which is longer than the diagonal line of the rectangle and is adapted to be insertable into the void space by bending the same arcuately.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2002Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: Iida Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenichi Miura, Akira Yamada

Patent number: 4898630Abstract: A thermosetting highly foaming sealer of this invention contains an unvulcanized rubber, a vulcanizing agent, a softener and an inorganic filler. It is bonded on one of two parallel planes forming a gap, and is vulcanized and foamed by heating to fill up the gap. A feature of the thermosetting highly foaming sealer is that it comprises a first sealing member bonded on one of two parallel planes before heating, foaming and expanding from 1 to 2 times of original volume thereof when vulcanized by heating, and a second sealing member laminated on the first sealing member foaming and expanding 6 times or more of original volume thereof when vulcanized by heating. Accordingly, the thermosetting highly foaming sealer of this invention can securely fill the gap without running down or slipping off even when it is provided on a vertical plane, thereby preventing dusts and water from intruding from environment. The thermosetting highly foaming sealer thus shows a good rustproofing capability as well.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1988Date of Patent: February 6, 1990Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki, Iida Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Osamu Kitoh, Masahiko Ohashi

Patent number: 4874650Abstract: A thermosetting foaming sealer of this invention is a thermosetting foaming sealer for filling up a vacant space. The thermosetting foaming sealer comprises a foaming substance having a shape substantially agreeing with a vacant space to be filled up, and a restraining substance for restraining the foaming substance in a compressed state, wherein the restraining substance is an elastomer having high viscosity at room temperature, substantially maintaining the compressed state of the compressed foaming substance, and coming to have low viscosity during paint film baking. The thermosetting foaming sealer can be provided firmly at a predetermined position and can fill up the vacant space at the predetermined position. Thus, desired silence, for instance, in an automobile has been attained by employing the thermosetting foaming sealer.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1988Date of Patent: October 17, 1989Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Iida Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Osamu Kitoh, Masahiko Ohashi
