Abstract: The invention relates to the use of certain micro-RNAs circulating in the blood serum or blood plasma in the form of diagnostic profiles as a marker in an in vitro method for distinguishing between patients for which a myocardial biopsy is necessary for the diagnostic identification of a heart muscle disease and patients for which myocardial biopsy is not necessary, and for the optional differential diagnosis of individual non-ischemic cardiomyopathies or storage diseases affecting the heart.
