  • Patent number: 5810446
Abstract: A reversed U-shaped base frame for a seatback frame structure is of a monoblock structure, which includes an upper horizontal tubular portion and two side vertical portions. The two side vertical portions extend downward from axially opposed ends of the upper horizontal tubular portion. The base frame is produced from a shaped metal sheet by pressing and curling the same in such a manner that a given portion of the shaped metal sheet, which is shaped to produce the upper horizontal tubular portion, is curled to have a substantially circular cross section. The feature of the invention is that the curled given portion has circumferentially opposed edges which are overlapped each other.

  • Patent number: 5766722
Abstract: A floor covering for automotive vehicles includes a first surface area layer formed of tuft carpeting or other high quality, esthetically pleasing floor covering material and a second surface area layer formed of needlepunch floor covering or other durable and less costly material. The first and second surface layer portions are provided on a support mounted over a waterproof bottom surface sheet of polyethylene, or the like. One or both of the tuft carpet and needlepunch areas may be adhered to the support via a hot melt film layer. The densities of the materials selected for the layers are determined for durability and strength and may additionally absorb vehicle vibration and provide reduced noise in the vehicle cabin. To this effect, an additional base layer may be provided between the bottom surface layer and the hot melt layer which is formed of high density material for increasing passenger comfort and overall durability of the floor covering material.

  • Patent number: 5730917
Abstract: A method of molding a headrest of automotive seat comprises the following steps. First, a bag shaped flexible outer skin member is prepared, has an elongate slit formed therethrough. A part of a stay member is inserted into the outer skin member through the slit and set relative to the outer skin member. A given biasing force is applied to longitudinal ends of the slit so that the slit is stretched in longitudinally opposed directions and thus caused to take a closed position. Then, an injection nozzle of a foamable material feeder is put into the slit by expanding the slit against the biasing force. A foamable material is poured into the outer skin member, and the material feeding is stopped when a given amount of material is fed to the outer skin member. The application of the biasing force to the slit is continued until the material is sufficiently cured.
