Abstract: A headrest control system for a motor vehicle equipped with a driver's seat and rear seats having adjustable headrests mounted thereon is disclosed which includes a driving motor for moving the headrest of the rear seat between an operative position for use and an inoperative retracted position, a first switch provided for actuating the driving motor, a second switch for actuating the driving motor, a memory for storing data of an optimum operative position of the headrest, and a sensor for detecting whether the rear seat is occupied by a passenger or not.

Abstract: A first reclining back is pivotally connected to a first seat section. The first back is shiftable to a predetermined position in which the first back is coplanar with the first seat section. The first seat section and back constitute a first seat. A first armrest is detachably connected to the first seat. A second reclining back is pivotally connected to a second seat section. The second back is shiftable to a predetermined position in which the second back is coplanar with the second seat section. The second seat section and back constitute a second seat, which is spaced from the first seat. A second armrest is detachably connected to the second seat. The first and second armrests having been detached from the first and second seats can be used to fill the gap between the first and second seats to form a substantially-flat surface in conjunction with the first and second seats when the first and second backs are in their predetermined positions.

Abstract: A seat device comprises a pair of main seat portions which can be turned backwards and arranged close to each other, a pair of main seat back portions projecting upwardly from the main seat portions, respectively, a pair of auxiliary seat portions attached to both sides of each main seat portion, and a pair of auxiliary seat back portion attached to both sides of each main seat back portion. All the auxiliary seat back portions and the seat portions are movable between an extended position and an unextended position. The seat device is suitable for use in a van type automotive vehicle.

Abstract: A pneumatic cushion fabricated from two sheets of expandable thin material are welded together at a circumferential portion thereof to define therebetween a expandable pneumatic chamber. The welded portion is separated from the pneumatic chamber by a substantially rigid board. The board-like member cooperates with a portion of the sheets mating therewith to isolate the welded portion from tension forces applied to the sheets as the chamber air pressure increases.

Abstract: A container has, in an upper part thereof, a body of an oleospecific absorbing material, composed mainly of a vegetable substance, preferably coir dust, minutely particulated, having an abundance of fine pores on the surface thereof, impregnated with hydrophobic material to provide a water repellent property and advantageously coated with oil permeable and oil-absorptive materials. This material, in the container, is exposed to mineral oil, floating on the ocean or on industrial waste water or the like. The oil ultimately drains into the container below the material, and is removed therefrom.

Abstract: A flexible belt is fixed at its one end to one side of the vehicle seat and has at its other end a tongue member. An elongate rigid member is pivotally and rotatably fixed at its lower end to the other side of the vehicle seat and has at its upper end a buckle which releasably engages the tongue member.

Abstract: A seat cushion of a rear seat is cut away at its forward part to provide a forwardly and upwardly opening recess. A foldable cushion is usually received within the recess, while it is foldable upwardly and rearwardly to be laid upon the remaining portion of the seat cushion. A backrest of a front seat is tiltable to be substantially planar with the rear seat cushion to be received the recess, forming a sleeper's bed.

Abstract: An inflatable protector bag of a vehicle safety device for protecting a vehicle occupant during a collision by the vehicle. The protective bag has a collapsed inoperative condition and an expanded operative condition having when unloaded, a generally hexahedral configuration consisting of two rectangular sheet sections, two isosceles triangular sheet sections and two congruent scalene quadrilateral sheet sections. The protector bag is produced from a totally closed hollow rectangular confinement having a pair of flat coextensively overlapping sheet sections such that three triangular pocket portions are formed at three of the vertices of the rectangular confinement and are sealed along the respective bases of the triangular pocket portions.

Abstract: The bag has at least one rip which is normally sealed by sewing, adhesion or welding with a calculated strength so that the rip may open and relieve the bag pressure when the bag pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure due to collision of the passenger against the inflated bag. The open rip may be exposed to the atmosphere, but alternatively an inflatable auxiliary bag may be attached to the former bag in such an arrangement that the discharged gas is received in the auxiliary bag.
