Patent number: 5974844Abstract: An improved combination key and transporter assembly is provided whereby the head of the key includes an elongated slot that passes through the head. A carrier is molded into the slot disposed in the key head which includes a hollow interior bound by a plurality of tabs for frictionally retaining a transponder in the carrier. After the transponder is inserted into the carrier, the key head, carrier and transponder are inserted into a mold and an outer sheath is molded around the head, carrier and transponder. The resulting assembly has a slim profile and may be mounted onto a standard sized key chain or key holder. The assembly may be manufactured using an automated process without hand sub-assembly steps.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1998Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Ilco Unican Corp.Inventors: Donald Harrelson, Douglas Davis

Patent number: 5884515Abstract: An electric clutch system for a mortise-type security lock is provided. The clutch system includes one or more magnets disposed in one hub of a mortise-type lock. The magnet is recessed and disposed below the interior surface of the hub that engages the opposing hub of the mortise-type lock. The opposing hub includes one or more spring-biased armatures. Upon the application of current to the magnet, the armature is drawn toward the magnet resulting in a coupling-type connection between the two hubs so that rotation of the exterior handle will open the door.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1997Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: ILCO Unican Corp.Inventor: Sheldon Milman

Patent number: 5685212Abstract: A key punch apparatus is provided for selectively removing notches of material from a key blank. The apparatus includes a punch and die subassembly which is rotatable between first and second positions. A carrier holds the key blank in an operative relation with the subassembly. An actuating handle is operatively coupled to the punch to cause an axial cutting stroke. Cutting a notch with the subassembly in the first position results in a notch having a first shape, while cutting a notch with the subassembly in the second position results in a notch having a second shape.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1994Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: ILCO Unican Corp.Inventors: John A. Licata, Donald S. Wright, Edward J. Stanley

Patent number: 4663953Abstract: A lock mechanism incorporating a coupling device through which rotation of a lock plug is transmitted to a bolt actuating shift, and which readily allows for interchangeability of key removable locking cores of different axial lengths in a door knob in any of a plurality of different positions of rotation of the lock plug.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1986Date of Patent: May 12, 1987Assignee: Ilco-Unican Corp.Inventors: Aaron M. Fish, Hariharan Somasundaram

Patent number: 4643007Abstract: A positive deadbolt locking system having a spring-biased deadbolt normally biased toward a retracted unlocked position or selectively and alternatively toward an overcenter locked position. The deadbolt is selectively in the fully unlocked or fully locked position of the locking system.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1985Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Ilco-Unican CorpInventors: Aaron M. Fish, Jean-Paul Dausseing

Patent number: 4640110Abstract: A permutation lock having pushbutton code controls and automatic cancelling of the code when the latch is operated for opening the door. An adjustable time-delay device is provided for disabling the operation of the lock after a predetermined time from when the code is inserted in the lock chamber. The time delay device disables the lock after the duration of a predetermined time.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Ilco Unican Corp.Inventors: Aaron M. Fish, Stanley S. Mazoff, Adamo M. D'Intino, Hariharan Somasundaram

Patent number: 4354780Abstract: A machine forming teeth about the periphery of a round blank which has two faces at an angle to each other, and a peripheral edge. The teeth are to appear at both faces and the edge. A single rotary tooth cutter is given a single path to cut each tooth and is controlled by a template to cut one side face, the edge, and the other side face seriatim in one continuous pass. A cam is used to impel the cutter and its drive shaft along its path.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1980Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: Ilco Unican Corp.Inventor: Evangelos Bougiouris
