Publication number: 20160098599Abstract: A digital imaging system for real-time searching for expressions that appear on a microform medium, the system comprising a computer including a processor, a display, a temporary memory, and a non-volatile memory, and a digital microform imaging apparatus including a controller and an area sensor generating a real-time digital microform image of the microform medium. The controller is in communication with the area sensor and receives the image. The controller is in communication with the processor and outputs the image to the processor that temporarily stores the image in the temporary memory. The processor uses the image output by the controller to drive the display with the image being generated by the area sensor in real-time. The processor searches the image used to drive the display for instances of a search expression, the processor visually distinguishing identified instances of the search expression on the display.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2015Publication date: April 7, 2016Applicant: E-IMAGE DATA CORPORATIONInventors: Todd A. Kahle, Grant Taylor

Patent number: 8269890Abstract: A digital microform imaging apparatus which includes an approximately monochromatic illumination source transmitting an incident light through a diffuse window along a first optical axis of the apparatus. A microform media support is configured to support a microform media after the diffuse window and along the first optical axis. An approximately 45 degree fold mirror reflects the incident light transmitted through the microform media approximately 90 degrees along a second optical axis. An imaging subsystem includes a lens connected to a first carriage which is linearly adjustable approximately parallel with the second optical axis, and an area sensor connected to a second carriage which is linearly adjustable approximately parallel with the second optical axis.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2007Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: E-IMAGE Data CorporationInventor: Todd A. Kahle

Patent number: 5367337Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided which receive and sample an incoming video image signal asynchronously, and then processes the signal to recover the video image, including video format, for conversion into a preselected video format. The apparatus and methods first sample the video signal using a stable (crystal oscillator) time base clock to reconstruct the frequency of the video signal, i.e., to recover the video format and then using a contrast optimization process to determine the video signal pixel clock rate.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1992Date of Patent: November 22, 1994Assignee: Image Data CorporationInventors: Harry S. Pyle, Norman H. Bahr, Paul G. Nietfeld

Patent number: 5130786Abstract: A method of color image compression processing provides compensation for lossy luminance compression (30) by adjusting (34) the red and blue color components using a lossy luminance compression factor equal to the difference between compressed and decompressed luminance. The compensated color components are then used to compute (42) chrominance color differences. Chrominance is range compressed (44) by bit-reduction using a non-linear range compression function that minimizes compression for small chrominance magnitudes, where the eye is more sensitive to a loss of color fidelity, while maximizing compression in the color saturation regions where the eye is less sensitive.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1989Date of Patent: July 14, 1992Assignee: Image Data CorporationInventors: Richard Y. Murata, Harry S. Pyle
