  • Publication number: 20010040599
Abstract: Process for compensation of mechanical defects in an ink jet printer in which the ink viscosity, the jet velocity, the distance at which the ink jet is broken into droplets and the phase are independently servocontrolled to respect set values, process according to which the droplet arrival position is compared with a reference position, and mechanical defects are compensated by varying the electrical charge on the droplets. The invention also relates to a printer equipped with checking and servocontrol means so that compensation according to the process can be applied. The mechanical assembly of the printer will thus be simplified.

  • Patent number: 6273559
Abstract: One or several jets (14) of an electrically conducting liquid such as ink, are emitted at a given speed Vj and are stimulated so as to form drops (22, 24) at a frequency F, at two break off points (C, L) separated by a distance &Dgr;D less than the wavelength &lgr; of the jet, defined by the relation &lgr;=Vj/F. Two contiguous areas are created (20) in the vicinity of these two break off points (C, L), and the potential of these two areas is brought up to constant electrical potentials with opposite signs (V1, V2). Different quantities of electric charge are thus applied on the drops (22, 24), which are relatively constant even if the break off points should vary. A deflection device (30) then deviates the drops to be recycled (24) and the drops to be printed (22) depending on their charge, which depends on their break off point.

  • Patent number: 5489929
Abstract: In a liquid projection method and a high-resolution printing device in a vibrationally excited continuous ink-jet printer, an ink jet is divided into drops in the vicinity of a charging device for the electrostatic charging of these drops creating an electrical field that is asymmetrical with respect to the axis of the jet. The method comprises a first step of creating a single microdrop at the upstream end of a main drop by the application of a charging voltage V.sub.M higher than the Rayleigh voltage to the charging device when this main drop appears. Then a second step of deflecting the microdrop to be used for the printing by the application, to the following main drop, of a charging voltage V.sub.c, lower than the voltage V.sub.M and lower than the Rayleigh voltage, that can be modulated as a function of the path chosen for the microdrop towards the printing medium. The charging device can take the form of two half-planes intersecting each other in a direction parallel to the axis of the ink jet.

  • Patent number: 4757187
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for marking products in relation with an organization commissioned to check this marking both from the point of view of authenticity of the printed message and from the point of view of the number of these messages which have actually been printed. The printer (A) connected to the packaging chain (C) receives the control instructions either directly from a terminal (B) located in the premises of the checking organization or by means of a memory card programmed by this organization and supplied by this latter to the user.
