The system comprises a support catheter bounding a lumen for receiving at least a portion of the guidewire. The support catheter comprises a guidewire engagement structure for engaging the guidewire inside the lumen. The engagement structure in engaged condition causes the guidewire and the support catheter to be held mutually positioned at least in longitudinal direction thereof.
