Abstract: A large can (1) suitable for containing a brushable coating composition of the type applied at ambient temperatures to surfaces of buildings and which can is conveniently closeable by a screw-thread lid (7) where the opening (2) into the can is provided with screw-threads (5) formed around its external surface and a brushwipe (9) preferably comprising an edge (10) having different curvatures (10a and 10b) located in a position remote from the screw-threads. Provision of the brushwipe guards against the wiping of an overloaded paint brush on areas of the opening from which paint wiped from the brush could run to block screw threads and so make use of the screw-thread lid impracticable. The can preferably also contains a re-entrant rebate (32) in its side wall (37) to provide a brush rest (34) within the can and also means for guiding a user of the can to hold it in a preferred orientation during painting.

Abstract: Fungicidally active compounds of the formula ##STR1## and stereoisomers thereof, wherein A is the group .dbd.CW-- or a nitrogen atom, B is the group .dbd.CX-- or a nitrogen atom, D is the group .dbd.CY-- or a nitrogen atom, and E is the group .dbd.CZ-- or a nitrogen atom, wherein W, X, Y and Z, which may be the same or different, are, for example, hydrogen, halogen, nitro, nitrile, or other defined groups and wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted aralkyl, cycloalkyl groups, or optionally substituted heteroaromatic, and V is oxygen or sulfur.

Abstract: An electrode which comprises a substrate of a valve metal or an alloy thereof having properties similar to those of the valve metal and a coating comprising an outer layer which comprises RuO.sub.2, an oxide of at least one non-noble metal and at least one other noble metal or oxide thereof and an intermediate layer having a composition different from that of the outer layer and which comprises RuO.sub.2 and an oxide of at least one non-noble metal. The electrode is particularly useful as an anode for an electrolytic cell, eg a chlor-alkali cell, it has a lifetime therein which is greater than the sum of the operational life-times of electrodes which comprise a valve metal substrate and which separately comprise one of the above layers which together form a part of the coating of that electrode.
