Abstract: Electromagnetic signals for transmitting television and other information more robustly have amplitudes modulated in accordance with a digital signal generated by convolutional interleaving and trellis coding of segments of successive data fields, each of which segments contains a prescribed number of bytes. In improvements of these signals, respective fractional portions of a Reed-Solomon forward-error-correction codeword are transmitted in respective ones of a plurality of the segments of the successive data fields. The respective ones of the plurality of segments are separated from each other within the successive data fields, such that their individual bytes do not interleave with each other after the convolutional interleaving and trellis coding are completed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling power management based on information on ticks for performing program tasks and information on each of power management states, which is applicable to every apparatus and component able to enter a power saving state. By means of entering a corresponding power management based on a result of comparing idle time of a processor during the tick with resume time of each power management state, power consumption can be reduced.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a first storage medium to store a storage target file, without storing storage management information of the storage target filed. The image forming apparatus may also have a controller to control storing the storage management information of the storage target file separately from the storage target file. Therefore, without the storage management information that is indispensable for accessing the storage target file the file is secure regardless of detaching the first storage medium from the image forming apparatus.
Abstract: A receptacle connector of the present invention is used as an electrical connector configured to connect two circuit boards. The receptacle connector includes: a housing in which a receiving space is formed, a connection target being inserted in the receiving space; a plurality of contacts being arranged parallel to one another, having a plurality of signal line contacts and a plurality of ground contacts, and being placed with every two adjacent signal line contacts for transmitting signals interposed between two ground contacts; a supporting member made of an electrically-insulating synthetic resin material, and configured to integrally support and fix thereto the plurality of contacts; and a common contact made of a conductive resin material and configured to electrically connect the plurality of ground contacts together among the plurality of contacts. The plurality of contacts integrated together by the supporting member are received in the receiving space.

Abstract: A secure communications system has at least one processor and a control bus. A number of ports, each having a different fixed address, are coupled to the control bus. The processor assigns each port the address of another port whose data the port is permitted to receive when placed on a system data bus by the other port. A time slot generator outputs each fixed port address sequentially during corresponding time slots in a recurring manner, and a time slot bus is coupled to the time slot generator and to each of the ports. The ports are configured so that (a) when a given port detects its fixed address on the time slot bus, it writes desired outbound data on the data bus, and (b) when the given port detects its assigned port address on the time slot bus, the given port reads data off the data bus.
