  • Patent number: 7984372
Abstract: A BOOKMARK element is proposed to be included within the HEAD element of a markup language document. Such a BOOKMARK element is intended to provide a default bookmark label that is to be associated with a Universal Resource Identifier (URI) of a markup language document when storing the URI of the markup language document as a bookmark or favorite. A short, to-the-point label suggested by an author of the markup language document may be seen as beneficial particularly to users of mobile communication devices. Such a suggested label may also greatly improve the user experience of desktop-based browsers.

  • Patent number: 7983209
Abstract: A system and method for converting a schema based synchronous service to a schema based asynchronous service. The asynchronous service for implementing on a server configured for communication with a respective client over a network. The system and method comprising a subscription module for identifying a port type with each notification method added to a description of the synchronous service and for associating a subscription operation with the identified port type. The system and method can also include an artifact module for generating at least one conversion artifact related to the added notification method, the conversion artifact configured for use by a developer to assist in developing the supporting clients of the asynchronous service as well as the asynchronous service itself. The system and method can also include an integration module for combining the notification methods and subscription operations and conversion artifacts to produce a description of the asynchronous service.

  • Patent number: 7982677
Abstract: A mobile wireless communications device may include a housing and a multi-frequency band antenna carried within the housing. The multi-frequency band antenna may include a main loop conductor having a gap therein defining first and second ends of the main loop conductor, a first branch conductor having a first end connected adjacent the first end of the main loop conductor and having a second end defining a first feed point, and a second branch conductor having a first end connected adjacent the second end of the main loop conductor and a second end defining a second feed point. A third branch conductor has a first portion within the main loop conductor, and a second portion connected to the second feed point. A tuning branch conductor may have a first end connected to the main loop conductor between the respective first ends of the first and second branches.

  • Patent number: 7983719
Abstract: In a mobile communication device, a scanning operation is performed with use of a wireless transceiver to identify one or more available wireless communication networks in a given geographic area. Each time the scanning operation fails to result in identifying a wireless network to be available for connection with the communication device, the scanning operation is repeated after delaying for a next scanning delay period of a plurality of consecutively-increasing scanning delay periods n=[n1, n2, . . . , M], wherein M is set as an upper limit. In response to identifying a first predetermined battery condition of the communication device, a first new upper limit N is added to the plurality of consecutively-increasing scanning delay periods n=[n1, n2, . . . , M, N], wherein N is the first new upper limit such that N>M.

  • Patent number: 7983704
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for performing a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) initialization procedure are described. A terminal profile having a most recent release version format is communicated to a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM). An error from the SIM is detected in response to sending the most recent release version format of the terminal profile, since the SIM is incompatible with this most recent release version. Subsequently, a terminal profile having a previous release version format is communicated to the SIM based on detecting the error from the SIM. This may be repeated further until compatibility between the mobile communication device and the SIM is established.

  • Patent number: 7983863
Abstract: In accordance with the teachings described herein, systems and methods are provided for battery capacity estimation. A profile table may be used that relates a plurality of battery profile values with a plurality of operating parameter values. The profile table may be accessed to translate one or more measured operating parameters into one or more corresponding battery profile values. One or more of the battery profile values may be adjusted by a correction factor to generate a corrected battery profile value. The available capacity of the battery may be calculated using the corrected battery profile value. The correction factor may then be automatically calibrated by using an estimated battery profile value calculated from the one or more measured operating parameter.
