  • Publication number: 20240146219
Abstract: A method for homing a stepping motor having a plurality of full-step positions within each full rotation of a rotor of the stepper motor includes applying a first drive current to windings of the stepper motor to rotate the rotor at least one full rotation in a first direction away from an end-of-travel (EOT) position. Thereafter, the drive current is applied to the windings to rotate the rotor in a second direction toward the EOT position. Upon detection of EOT, the drive current is discontinued. Drive current is then applied to the windings to rotate the rotor of the stepper motor in micro-steps in the first direction to a closest full-step position of the stepper motor. Finally, a drive current is applied to drive the stepper motor a predetermined number of full steps away from the EOT position.

  • Publication number: 20240146694
Abstract: Embodiments provide techniques for securely managing the transmission of register operations to endpoint devices (e.g., circuit breakers and other forms of electrical equipment). A firewall management component can add, through a secure communications channel, an entry to a firewall structure maintained on a firewall device. The entry can specify (i) a register operation for an endpoint device, (ii) a value for the register operation, and (iii) a count of times that the register operation can be performed. The firewall management component transmits register operation to the firewall device to be forwarded to the endpoint device. The firewall device is configured to forward the register operation to the endpoint device only if the count specified in the firewall structure would not be exceeded.

  • Patent number: 11970102
Abstract: A liftgate assembly, such as a for a delivery vehicle, includes a liftgate that is movable by hydraulic power between a raised position and a lowered position. The hydraulic power unit includes an energy-recovery mechanism that stores energy while the liftgate is being lowered under load. Energy stored by the energy-recovery mechanism, such as in an accumulator, may be used to raise the liftgate. The hydraulic power unit includes a pump that pumps hydraulic fluid for providing hydraulic pressure. The liftgate assembly thereby uses energy more efficiently, enabling repurposing part of the energy from lowering the liftgate (and any cargo thereupon) in raising the liftgate.

  • Patent number: 11971507
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for improving detection of multi-return light signals, and more particularly to the mitigation of optical crosstalk in a Light Detection And Ranging (LIDAR) system. The methods may include cycling a passive state, where the LIDAR system receives returns from other optical sources, and in an active state, where the LIDAR system receives returns from its laser firing and from the other optical sources. By comparing the returns from the passive state and active state, crosstalk from the other optical sources may be removed. Other methods may include (1) phase locking intra LIDAR systems to fire their laser in different directions from one another; and (2) when two inter LIDAR system are firing a laser beam at one another within a field of view threshold, each inter LIDAR system may ignore the signal return from the other inter LIDAR system.

  • Patent number: 11971447
Abstract: A self-test mechanism within an integrated circuit to automatically interleave evaluation of a clock signal by a clock monitor unit with periodic testing for faulty operation of a clock monitor unit implemented within the integrated circuit for monitoring a clock signal. The mechanism injects faults into the clock monitor unit to evaluate if the clock monitor unit is operating in accordance with its specified operating parameters. The injected faults are intended to cause the clock monitor unit to determine that the clock signal is operating outside of a specified frequency range. If the injected faults do not cause the clock monitor unit to determine that the clock signal is operating both above and below the specified frequency range, then the clock monitor unit is not functioning according to specified operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 11972928
Abstract: A method and system for plasma arc suppression includes a RF generator supplying power to a plasma chamber coupled to an impedance matching network reacting to impedance changes to match an impedance of the plasma chamber with an impedance of the radio frequency generator. An arc suppression device coupled to the RF generator and the plasma chamber detects plasma arcing causing a sharp impedance change increasing reflection of the power by the plasma chamber and switches a power dissipator reducing the power delivered to the plasma chamber extinguishing or mitigating the plasma arcing. The power dissipator is switched more quickly than the impedance matching network reacts to the sharp impedance change. For example, the impedance matching network may react to the impedance change on an order of hundredths of milliseconds or more, while the arc suppression device switches the power dissipator on an order of microseconds or less.

  • Patent number: 11971939
Abstract: A clustered metasearch system receives a search query from a user. The system uses Natural Language Processing to identify an object of the search query and descriptors of the search query. The system sorts the search into an applicable realm based on the object of the search query. The system then conducts the search across a variety of search engines and collects root domains from the search results. Root domains within the same realm as the search query are prioritized and additional factors such as the presence of descriptors in the result, the recency of the result, the search engine rank of the result, and the distance from the center of the realm are used to determine the final ranking of the results. The results are then displayed to a user.
