Abstract: A method for enabling a distributed database clustering that utilizes asynchronous transactional replication, thereby ensuring high availability of databases, while maintaining data and transaction consistency, integrity and durability. The method is based on the following primary innovative techniques: Database Grid technique for generating multiple copies of database version transactions on a plurality of servers in a cluster; and a Cluster Commit technique for maintaining transaction durability. In addition, a master election component is operated, for continually deciding which cluster server is active.
