    Abstract: Provided are an inexpensive and safe moving object detection apparatus and moving object detection method that enable accurate detection of a moving object from an image sequence captured by a monocular camera at a high speed. A representative configuration of the moving object detection apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a horizon line detection unit that detects a horizon line in a frame image, an edge image generation unit that generates an edge image from a frame image, and a moving object detection unit that sets a detection box on a moving object, and the edge image generation unit extracts an edge image below a horizon line detected by the horizon line detection unit, and the moving object detection unit generates a foreground by combining the difference between the edge image below the horizon line and a background image of the edge image with the difference between a gray scale image and a background image of the gray scale image.

    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a negative-electrode active material for lithium-ion secondary battery, negative-electrode active material which makes it possible for lithium-ion secondary batteries to exhibit higher capacities, and which makes it feasible to charge and discharge lithium-ion secondary batteries at a faster speed. In a production process according to the present invention, oxidized titanium fluoride is obtained by heating a mixed raw material, which includes a mixture of anatase-type TiO2 and hydrofluoric acid, at 70° C. or more (i.e., a heating step). This mixed raw material includes hydrogen fluoride in an amount exceeding 2 mol per the anatase-type TiO2 making 1 mol. When the oxidized titanium fluoride, which is obtained by this production process, is used as a negative-electrode active material of lithium-ion secondary battery, high-capacity and rapidly-chargeable/dischargeable lithium-ion secondary batteries are obtainable.

Cauxin is removed from cat urine by bringing the cat urine into contact with a lectin or with an anti-cauxin antibody that specifically binds to cauxin. Cauxin may be removed using a column filled with a carrier that is bound to the lectin or to the anti-cauxin antibody. The lectin may be Lens culinaris lectin. Detection of the cat urinary protein from which cauxin has been removed is performed with a urine test strip.

    Abstract: A magnesium boride thin film having a B-rich composition represented by the general formula of MgBx (x=1 to 10) and a superconducting transition temperature of 10K or more has superior crystallinity and orientation and is used as a superconducting material. This thin film is formed by maintaining a film forming environment in a high vacuum atmosphere of 4×10?5 Pa or less, and simultaneously depositing Mg and B on a substrate maintained at a temperature of 200° C. or less so as to grow the film at a growth rate of 0.05 nm/sec or less. It is preferable to supply an Mg vapor and a B vapor into the film forming environment at an Mg/B molar ratio of 1/1 to 12/1.

The exemplary ultraviolet receiver includes a Schottky electrode which, when receiving ultraviolet rays, produces a voltage in cooperation with the zinc oxide single crystal substrate. The ultraviolet sensor does not have any sensitivity to the visible rays. The ultraviolet sensor has a relatively fast response of several microseconds.
