Abstract: A sensor group in an automatic temperature control system for foods in vessels heated by a flame from a gas burner supplies a first heat quantity to a temperature sensing element within the group, as a function of the foods' temperature; and a second, smaller heat quantity, as a function of the flame temperature. The ratio between the two heat quantities is such that a small progressive temperature increase is obtained at the sensing element when a constant food temperature has been reached.

Abstract: A device to compensate for the thermic effects of an external source on a sensitive element in a system for automatically controlling the temperature reached by foods in heated vessels. The device includes a conventional range and a potentiometer for controlling a gas or electric heating element. Two heat sensitive elements are employed, one sensing pan temperature, and the other sensing ambient temperature. Electric circuitry automatically adjusts the heating element to reduce the heat output as the ambient temperature rises, so that a more constant vessel temperature is achieved.

Abstract: The invention relates to a television set provided with a alphanumerical display device for displaying on the television screen (6), as an alternative to the received video picture, another complete picture constituted by alphanumerical data which can comprise all the letters in the alphabet, the numbers from 0 to 9 and graphic symbols.The invention also relates to a receiver provided with color picture display means for displaying, following a control from the user, a calendar data constituted by at least one of the said colour pictures and composed of alphanumerical characters.The invention also relates to a receiver for receiving radioelectric signals which is provided with an alphanumerical character display device in which the tuning of a radioelectric signal takes place by means of a message from the user composed of alphanumerical characters and representative of the station which transmits the said radioelectric signal.

Abstract: A dryer apparatus comprising an enclosure which contains a drying chamber for receiving articles, such as clothes, to be dried, an air heating passage and an air cooling passage. The heating passage is situated underneath the drying chamber and has inlet means and outlet means communicating therewith on opposite sides of said chamber, respectively. Air heating means are provided in the heating passage between the inlet and outlet means threof to heat air flowing through said heating passage. The cooling passage is situated beside the drying chamber and has inlet means which are situated at the top of both the drying chamber and the cooling passage, and outlet means at the bottom of the cooling passage, which outlet means communicate with the heating passage near the inlet means thereof. Air cooling means are provided in the cooling passage, between the inlet and outlet means thereof to condense moisture from air flowing downwardly in the cooling passage.

Abstract: A television tuning system with a circuit for preventing the loss of information during power outages is disclosed. A disable signal is generated in response to the interruption of a mains power supply. In response to the disable signal, a series of fixed signals are applied to at least one of the date and address terminals of a memory containing the information to be preserved. An appropriate signal for preventing the information stored in the memory from being changed during the period in which the disable signal is generated is also applied to the memory.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for tuning into one of a number of radioelectric signals receivable on a signal receiver set is provided in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. The circuit arrangement consists of a controllable oscillator, whose frequency is determined by a control loop, in accordance with a binary number N. The binary number N is supplied by a processing unit on the basis of coded input data. Within the control loop, frequency division occurs so that a first signal is obtained from the controllable oscillator which is dependent at least on the number N. This first signal is then compared with a second reference frequency signal, to obtain a third signal for required tuning. A memory with a number of storage locations for storing data relative to signals tuned in digital form is also provided.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for the selection, the tuning and the storage of a frequency of signals receivable in a receiving set is described. The main feature of this circuit, which comprises a controlled oscillator whose frequency is determined by a control loop as a function of a number N, at least a first and a second memory circuit and a control panel, is that of having means for selecting one frequency among a plurality of receivable frequencies; means for optimally tuning said selected frequency; means for storing within the second memory circuit the information about the number N for each selected frequency; and means arranged to utilize the information stored in the second memory, about the number N, so as to enable to select again the optimally tuned frequency.

Abstract: A television set having a picture display device, means for tuning into selected radiated television signals and means for supplying the received signal pictures to the said display device, the set further comprising a preferably non-volatile memory containing coded data corresponding to at least one full picture other than the pictures contained in the received signal, and means for reading and decoding the data in the memory and supplying a signal to the said display device to display the stored data visually.

Abstract: A line output stage for providing a saw-tooth current in a deflection coil contains a switching circuit between the terminals of the supply source and the terminals of the deflection circuit. The switching circuit acts to reduce the voltage at terminals during the part of the cycle when the transistor is conducting, and so as to increase the voltage during the part of the cycle when the transistor is not conducting. As a result, the voltage at the terminals of the trace capacitor is reduced.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for tuning into one of a number of radioelectric signals receivable on a signal receiver, comprising a controllable oscillator the frequency of which is determined by a control loop depending on a digital number N from a processing unit, in turn, dependent on coded input data. The loop comprises a frequency divider for obtaining a first signal from the controllable oscillator depending at least on the number N and a comparitor for comparing the first signal with a second frequency reference signal so as to obtain a third signal for required tuning. The circuit arrangement further prevents signals from being sent to the receiver loudspeaker for a preset length of time if the variation in the number N is over a preset threshold within a preset time interval.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for selecting a radioelectric signal from a number of signals receivable by a signal receiver equipped with a character display device to enable at least two selection modes of the radioelectric signal. The circuit arrangement has a controllable oscillator, the frequency of which is determined by a control loop depending on a binary number N supplied by a processing unit on the basis of code input data. The control loop has frequency dividing means providing a first signal from the controllable oscillator depending on the number N and the comparator for comparing the first signal with a second frequency reference signal to provide a third signal for the required tuning. A memory circuit has a number of cells for digital storage of data relevant to the signals being tuned into. The said number N can be supplied both in direct response to the coded input data or by calling up data from the memory circuit.

Abstract: A circuit is described in which a triac is to be fired to allow voltage to be supplied to start a motor which powers the compressor of a refrigerator. In order that the triac is fired at zero-crossings of the voltage, the voltage is supplied to two comparators which are connected antiparallel with one another, and which are supplied with a reference voltage such that the voltage difference at the input terminals of each comparator represents the voltage at the triac terminals with no added d.c. component. The outputs of comparators supply a square-wave voltage with zero-crossings synchronized perfectly with those of the main voltage at the terminals of the triac. The square-wave voltages are passed via compacitors and diodes to a comparator which reserves a string of negative pulses synchronized with zero-crossings of the triac. If the comparator is gated by an IN signal indicating that the temperature is above a predetermined value, the pulses are fed via the transistor of the gate of the triac to fire it.

Abstract: A television receiver supply circuit includes a transistor driven between saturation and cut off periodically to chop the B+ voltage. The pilot pulses are derived from a pilot pulse source such as flyback pulses on a winding of the line output transformer. To prevent parasitic oscillations a second transistor is provided to ensure that the impedance seen by the winding of the line output transformer remains substantially constant during the flyback pulses.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for the selection and the tuning of a radio-electric signal in a signal receiving set is described.The main feature of this set, which comprises a controllable local oscillator whose frequency is controlled by a control loop which maintains it in a fixed relationship with a number N, is the provision of means for calculating at least a substantial part of said number N, by starting from a plurality of signals representing a number K indicative of the signal to be tuned.In particular the signal receiving set can be a television receiver, and said radio-electric signal to be tuned belongs to a television channel.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a television set which includes a picture display device, an alpha numerical character generating circuit connected to said device, a control device, means for determining analogue data relating to the operation of the set, such as volume, brightness and color, and means for displaying on said display device a combination of alpha numerical characters, supplied by said character generating device, indicating the values of said analogue data.A control keyboard has six keys "V+", "V-", "L+", "L-", "C+" and "C-". The output of the keyboard is connected to a processing unit which is connected via a digital to analogue converter and switch to an alpha numerical character generator which is connected to a picture display device. When one of the six keys is pressed a combination of signals proportional to the analogue signal level of volume, brightness and color (V, L, C) is displayed on the picture display device.

Abstract: A circuit for driving a saw-tooth current in a coil includes a deflection circuit formed by the coil connected in parallel with a retrace capacitor and in series with a trace capacitor. The deflection circuit is connected in parallel with a first diode which conducts during the first half of the trace interval and in parallel with a second diode connected in series with a controllable switch which conducts during the second half of the trace interval. While the transistor is conductive, current flows through an inductor connected in series with it. The energy stored in this inductor is transferred at a subsequent stage partly to the deflection circuit and partly to a further capacitor. The further capacitor subsequently itself transfers the charge stored in it through a second inductor and a fourth diode to the deflection circuit so that at no time is energy dissipated in a load.

Abstract: A packing system for storing and transporting one or more cathode ray tubes, comprises at least one shell having one or more recesses. Each recess is shaped to accommodate as a good fit part of the glass bulb of a cathode ray tube and is of sufficient depth to retain the bulb firmly in position. The shell is of such a strength that it can by itself withstand bending stress exerted by the weight of the cathode ray tube.

Abstract: The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for vertical synchronization of a television receiver. Vertical synchronization pulses are generated by dividing pulses derived from a line frequency signal and these signals are compared with the received synchronization pulses. The circuit is designed to ignore spurious received sync pulses and to compensate for omitted sync pulses but automatically resets the divider for rephasing the generated sync signals when found to be out of phase with the received signals.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for driving saw-tooth current through a coil comprising a trace capacitor and a retrace capacitor, connected in a closed loop with said coil, a current recovery diode connected in parallel with the said retrace condenser, a first controllable switch, having a control electrode operative to receive periodic control signals to render the said first switch conductive during part of the trace interval, and an inductance connecting the said first switch to a power supply source in which energy is stored during the interval in which the said first switch is conductive and from which energy is supplied to the said first retrace capacitor by way of a second diode and a third capacitor when the said first switch is not conductive, the energy stored in the said third capacitor when the said first switch is not conductive, being restored to the supply source when the said first switch is conductive by way of a second controllable switch.
