Patent number: 4398097Abstract: An automatic transfer switch comprising a pair of molded case switches, a novel cam drive mechanism and a lever linkage is provided to assure a programmed timed sequence of contact transfer so that arc extinction is achieved in load transfer and re-transfer between normal and emergency power sources, thereby preventing source to source short circuits. To prevent motor override from disturbing the cam during stopping, declutching or escapement means is provided to separate the drive pin in the cam plate from the motor drive. Improved transfer for motor loads may be achieved by additional escapement and time delay intervals in the transfer between normal and emergency sources. To facilitate the starting and stopping of the motor drive, auxiliary contact means are provided which coact with the outside periphery of the cam plate to open and to close the incoming power for the electric motor drive.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1982Date of Patent: August 9, 1983Assignee: Indian Head, Inc.Inventors: Frank M. Patent number: 4238652Abstract: This invention relates to an improved method and apparatus for detecting the level of a first fluid. It includes a reservoir within the first fluid, the reservoir being bounded by a flexible membrane at its lower portion for containing a second fluid. The reservoir contains at least one switching means biased to assume a first position when the second fluid is below a predetermined level and adapted to assume a second position upon the rising of the first fluid into pressure exerting contact with the flexible membrane. The rising first fluid compresses the lower flexible membrane portion of the reservoir and causes the second fluid within the reservoir to also rise thereby causing the switching means to assume the second position.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1978Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Assignee: Indian Head, Inc.Inventor: Nelson H. Patent number: 4209661Abstract: A clamping device comprising an elongated wedge body having a bifurcated end, and a second end opposite the bifurcated end. The wedge body is of substantially rectangular transverse cross-sectional configuration, and is relatively thick at the second end, tapering to a relatively thin dimension at the bifurcated end. The wedge body has first and second sides extending between its bifurcated and second ends. Each of these sides carries a plurality of longitudinally spaced, contiguous teeth or serrations over a major portion of its length. The bifurcation in one end of the wedge body defines a pair of spaced, substantially parallel legs, which legs have continuations of the teeth or serrations extended along one side thereof, and are relatively smooth on the opposite side thereof. In a useful combination, the clamping device retains an electrical conductor in place at the location where it enters a knock-out window in a synthetic resin electrical box.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1978Date of Patent: June 24, 1980Assignee: Indian Head Inc.Inventors: Harold T.
