  • Patent number: 8830014
Abstract: A dielectric resonator filter comprising a metal wall that is configured with metal cavities. Dielectric resonators can be placed in the metal cavities and configured as a set of cylindrical TE mode resonators and a set of rectangular HE mode resonators. Separating walls are disposed between the dielectric resonators, which include tunable irises for electromagnetic mixed coupling between the cylindrical TE mode resonators and the rectangular HE mode resonators. The rectangular HE mode resonators are configured to shift up the TE mode in frequency. This leads to an easy separation of two degenerate HE modes, a wide spurious free stop band and also achieves electric coupling without using any additional coupling member.

  • Patent number: 8735856
Abstract: The present invention provides a hollow prism for detecting liquid level in the presence of an optical beam, including a hollow member, dielectric members sealed to the hollow member with one of the dielectric members arranged at an inclined angle to the other, a sealed hollow space disposed between said dielectric members, wherein an incident optical beam enters through the first dielectric member at normal incidence and exits as an emergent beam through the second dielectric member, and wherein the emergent optical beam remains undeviated when the hollow member not immersed in a liquid medium and the emergent beam suffers deviation when immersed in the liquid medium. The present invention also provides a fiber optic liquid level detector with the hollow prism for detecting liquid levels.

  • Patent number: 8640428
Abstract: Insert assemblies of high specific strengths to reduce stress concentration at locations where Multidirectional stresses act on sandwich structures have been designed based on mapping stress distribution and failure initiation. The insert assembly comprises of insert (10, 20, 30), potting material (14, 24, 34), core (17, 27, 37), lower face plate (16, 26, 36), Upper face-plate (15, 25, 35) and attachment (13, 23, 33). The insert materials are selected from 2D woven composites, 3D thermoelastic isotropic woven composites, 3D woven composites, 3D woven composites with multiple inserts and 3D functionally gradient woven composites. Specific strengths of inserts (10, 20, 30) of present invention are higher than the inserts of prior art.

  • Patent number: 6684724
Abstract: A shape memory alloy step drive mechanism includes at least one shape memory alloy element (1) with a fixed end, the other end being connected to one end of a lever (2). The lever (2) is provided with a pawl (4) which is located to move on the teeth of a ratchet wheel (5) mounted on a main shaft (6) along with the lever (2). A stopper pin (7) is provided which also guides the pawl (4) on the ratchet wheel (5). A bias spring (9) is provided on a mandril on the main shaft (6) for returning the lever (2) to its original position. A detent wheel (8) with at least one detent lever (10) is mounted on the main shaft (6) to provide the detent torque required to hold the main shaft (6) in position when the lever (2) returns to its original position. A pair of support brackets (11) are provided for supporting and holding the various components together in an assembly.
