Patents Assigned to Indizen Optical Technologies of America, LLC
  • Patent number: 11520308
Abstract: An improved method for configuring progressive ophthalmic lenses is disclosed. The method includes computing an improved merit function that modulates reduction of peripheral values of the mean sphere according to the prescription sphere. According to the method the amount of reduction of mean sphere of the lens peripheral regions is dependent on the prescription resulting from a modified merit function. As such, the reduction of peripheral mean sphere varies based on the prescription. According to the modified merit function and resulting improved merit function, the greater the hyperopia and/or presbyopia defined in a prescription, the smaller the reduction of the peripheral value of mean sphere. Accordingly, when the peripheral mean sphere reduction is relaxed, a near region is made wider.

  • Patent number: 10698231
Abstract: Methods for lens configuration are disclosed. A method includes erasing a lens by heating the lens to a defined erasure temperature and writing a refractive index spatial distribution in the lens using an exposure pattern of directed ultraviolet (UV) light. The lens may be used as an ophthalmic lens or a lens used in industry. The lens comprises a rewriteable material, including, for example, liquid crystals. The lens may be erased using heat of a defined temperature. The lens may be rewritten by applying other exposure patterns to the lens using UV light.

  • Patent number: 10330950
Abstract: An improved method for configuring progressive ophthalmic lenses is disclosed. The method includes computing a traditional merit function with two changes. First, the merit function computation is limited by calculating only a preferred distance from the meridian rather than until 0. Second, an additional term is added to the merit function that calculates the mean sphere at a point that is at a reduced range from the maximum unwanted cylinder, rather than the entire range.

  • Patent number: 10086575
Abstract: Systems and methods for smoothing a lens are disclosed herein. A monomer used to make or augment the lens according to an additive method is deposited on the lens surface to be smoothed. A film or membrane with certain elastic properties is pressed against the layered (stepped) surface, with the monomer in between the lens and the membrane. The pressure of the membrane spreads the monomer over the surface of the lens, filling the spaces between the layered (stepped) surface and the membrane. A curing agent is applied to transition the monomer into a polymer coating matching the curve of the membrane. The membrane is removed, leaving a clean, smooth lens surface.

  • Patent number: 10018854
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for recommending ophthalmic lens parameters. The method includes receiving user data from a plurality of lens wearers, receiving lens configuration information, and receiving satisfaction information for a plurality of lens wearers. The user data and satisfaction information are analyzed to identify and/or determine lens features based on correlations in the user data and the satisfaction information, including repeating the analyzing when additional user data and additional satisfaction information is received and/or on a regular basis. When new wearer information including a lens prescription for a new wearer and user data for the new wearer is received, lens parameters are produced for the new wearer including evaluating lens manufacturing characteristics based on the analyzing in correlation with the new wearer information.
