Abstract: A holder device for fixedly securing a load (4, 5), for example a bicycle, on a vehicle roof is provided with a support channel (1) in which the wheel (4) of the cycle rests. The holder device is further provided with a retaining stirrup (6, 7) pivotal to an operative position for engagement with the frame tube (5) of the cycle. The retaining stirrup is connected by the intermediary of joints (8) to the support channel (1), which is, in its turn, secured with a releasable, U-shaped yoke (10) in the region of the connection between the retaining stirrup (6, 7) and the support channel (1), on a strut (3) disposed transversely across the vehicle roof.
Abstract: A load carrier for a vehicle is provided with a strut (1) disposed transversely over the roof (6) of the vehicle, and with a foot member (2)in each end. The foot members are provided with a support member (3) and a gripping member (4) which, by way of an operating device (20, 21), are mountable against edge portions (5, 6) of the vehicle roof, for fixedly securing the load carrier. In order to render such fixed securement extra reliable, both the support member (3) and the gripping member (4) are disposed on a pivotal arm (17) which, by way of a pivot (16), is fixedly secured in an upper portion of the foot member (2). The arm (17) is pivotal with its lower portion in towards the center of the vehicle so that both the under gripping portion (19) of the gripping member (4) and the support member (3) accompany the arm in this movement.
Abstract: A load carrier for a vehicle roof is provided with a load carrying strut (2) with a foot arrangement (1) in each end. At least one foot arrangement (1) is provided with an accommodation space (6) in which an end portion of the strut may be inserted. According to the invention, the accommodation space (6) is in downward communication with a cuneiform locking space (7) in which a locking body (9) is placed. The locking space (7) is defined downwardly by a cam surface (8) which is obliquely inclined in relation to the longitudinal direction of the strut (2), and the locking body (9) is actuated by a screw (10) so as to be movable along the cam surface (8) and thereby to a position fixedly clamping the strut (2) in its accommodation space (6). A flexible sheet spring (14) may be disposed between the locking body (9) and the strut for protecting the surface coating of the strut (2).
Abstract: An anchorage device for a load carrier intended for a vehicle roof (3) includes a strut (1) which extends across the vehicle roof (3) and has, in each end, an anchorage foot (2). The anchorage foot is provided with a support arrangement (4) for transferring loading to the vehicle roof, and also with anchorage members for fixedly retaining the anchorage foot (2) to the vehicle. According to the invention, the support arrangement is provided with two support members (17) which are pivotally retained in the anchorage foot (2) so as to pivot towards and away from one another, and have obliquely inclined grooves (22) for locking accommodation of projections or pins (14) secured in the vehicle. The support members are of platelike configuration so as to be able to extend down into narrow spaces (9, 10, 12) in the vehicle and there engage with the projections or pins (14) and are provided, in their lower edges, with support surfaces (16) for abutment against the bottom (10) of the space (9, 10, 12).
Abstract: The present invention relates to a structural arrangement by which a load may be carried on the rooftop of a vehicle. A roof rack is provided for directly supporting the load and is detachably connected to the roof of the vehicle through a fastening arrangement. The fastening arrangement will position the roof rack in a predetermined relationship with respect to the vehicle roof and clamp the roof rack thereto. Additionally, the roof rack is correctly positioned and clamped by the same device that connects the roof rack to the vehicle roof.
Abstract: A luggage carrier of the kind comprising a support rod and support legs connected with the ends thereof, the support legs having fastening devices for fastening the luggage carrier to a vehicle, preferably the rain gutter of the roof of the vehicle. The support rod of the luggage carrier is constituted by at least two concentrically positioned portions (18, 20) which are concentrically displaceable in relation to each other for allowing adjustment of the length of the support rod and thereby that the luggage carrier is adapted to the width of the vehicle. The support rod can be dismounted or pushed together to a space-saving position of the luggage carrier. The luggage carrier comprises a locking device for securing the portions of the support rod in a desired relative position.According to the invention the securing device is constituted by two complementary securing means (24-30; 32) each connected with separate portions (18, 20) of the support rod.
Abstract: Apparatus for locking elements together is disclosed which comprises socket means defining a first axis, knob means, and fastener means for attaching the knob means to the socket means. The fastener means has first and second ends and a middle portion, the first end including means for affixing said fastener means coaxially with, and in, the socket means; the second end including a smooth bearing portion; and the middle portion including a head portion, having faces, positioned beneath the bearing portion. The knob means houses lock means therein and is rotatable on the fastener bearing portion.
