    Abstract: A stacked semiconductor package formed on a substrate arranged in a serpentine configuration and a method for such fabrication are disclosed. The package is formed by at least one substrate section formed on the substrate bonded to at least one IC die by a flip-chip bonding method. The substrate is then folded onto itself such that the backside of a first IC die is adhesively bonded to the backside of a second IC die. A heat sink may optionally be utilized in-between the IC dies during the adhesive bonding process to further enhance thermal dissipation. The substrate section may be bonded to a printed circuit board by a plurality of solder balls formed on an active surface of the substrate section. The present invention can be bonded to a printed circuit board either in a horizontal position or in a vertical position for saving more real-estate on the board.

    Abstract: A device for bump probing and a method for fabricating the device are described. The device utilizes a bimorph-structured fingers for holding onto a solder bump, or a solder ball, without causing damages to the ball. The device further utilizes a direct current to cause an electrostatic force to flatten the probe fingers prior to attaching the fingers to a solder ball and for positioning the finger over a solder ball. After the electrostatic force is removed by disconnecting the direct current from the electrodes, the fingers grip onto the solder ball making electrical connection and performing testing. The invention further provides a micro-electro-mechanical-system technique for fabricating the probing device on a semiconducting substrate.

    Abstract: A moveable baggage restraint seat, is composed of a row of seat, two side restraint rods and a major restraint rod. An article accommodation space under above-said seat can accommodate baggage inside it and two sides of the seat each also arranges with a pivotal axis. The above-said two side restraint rods each has a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is pivotally connected to the pivotal axis of two sides of the seat and each second end is connected to two ends of the major restraint rod. Because the two side restraint rods are pivotally connected to two sides of the seat and connected with two ends of the major restraint rod to form a movable baggage restraint rod, when the baggage restraint rod is rotated under the seat, the baggage restraint rod may restrict the baggage under the seat. When the baggage restraint rod is rotated above the seat, the baggage can be taken out and it is more convenient to clean the floor under the seat.

    Abstract: A method for fabricating a tunable, 3-dimensional solenoid utilizing CMOS fabrication technology and a back end process without using photomasks are described. In the method, two curved arms each formed of a bi-layered metal structure from metals that have different coefficients of thermal expansion for residual stress are utilized for connecting to two ends of an inductor coil formed of AlCu between the two arms. When the insulating layer of silicon dioxide is removed from the curved arms, the free ends of the arms curve up and thus, raise the inductor coil away from the surface of the semiconductor substrate into a 3-dimensional structure. When electrical voltage is applied between lower electrodes formed on the substrate and the curved arms, electrostatic force is generated to further control the length of the inductor coil by pulling down or raising the curved arms.

    Abstract: A method for fabricating a thin film transistor that has a multi-layered gate structure of large thickness and the transistors formed are disclosed. In the method, an organic polymeric material layer is spin-coated to planarize a metal gate that has a second metal material deposited in a thin layer on the gate. A suitable metal coating material is molybdenum. A novel planarization process by dry etching is then carried out utilizing a UV spectrum of Mo in an end point detection method to remove all the organic polymeric material from a top planar surface of the metal gate (and the metal coating layer) and then stopping the dry etching process. A dielectric material layer such as silicon nitride is then deposited on top of the metal gate and the remaining organic polymeric material layer to complete the isolation process for the gate.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an organic light-emitting device which provides an electroluminescence (EL) or photoluminescence (PL) device with high external quantum efficiency. The present invention forms a composite film layer with continuously changing refraction indices between an ITO transparent electrode and a substrate made of plastic or glass. The refraction index of the composite film layer is the same as the ITO electrode at the interface with the ITO electrode. It decreases along the direction perpendicular to the substrate in a linear or nonlinear way. The refraction index is the same as that of the plastic or glass at the interface with the substrate. This way can avoid reflection due to the difference in the refraction index across the interface. The excited light originally trapped in the ITO electrode can be guided outwards.

    Abstract: A thermal responsive, water soluble polymer. The polymer comprises the co-polymerization product of: (a) 5˜95 wt % of N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIP); (b) 0.1˜80 wt % of 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone (VPD); and optionally, (c) 0.1˜30 wt % of acrylic acid (AA). As the proportion of component (b) VPD increases, the Lower Critical Solution Temperature (LCST) and water solubility of the polymer increases. On the other hand, as the proportion of component (c) AA increases, the Lower Critical Solution Temperature (LCST) decreases and the COOH reactive groups increases, which impart high reactivity to the copolymer. By adjusting the proportion of the monomers, a broad range of LCST can be manipulated from about 20 to 80° C.

    Abstract: A process for producing porous polymer material. The method combines a polymer and water-soluble granules to form a mixture. The mixture is placed into a mold; the surface of the polymer is dissolved to cause cohesion and form a polymer structure having water-soluble granules dispersed within, and water is introduced into the inner part of the polymer structure so that the polymer is solidified and water-soluble granules are washed out to obtain a porous polymer material. According to the invention, single or multiple layers of porous polymer material with different apertures, porosities, or made with different materials, are obtained by combining different polymer materials and water-soluble granules having different particle sizes in different weight ratios.

    Abstract: An optical fiber alignment element using integrated micro ball lens includes a substrate and a plurality of V-shaped grooves or waveguides formed on the substrate by lithography and etching. The substrate surface is coated with a first polymer layer and a high transparency second polymer layer, then is processed through a lithography process and heating process to form at least a base pad and a spherical micro ball lens between the V-shaped grooves or waveguides. Then dispose optical fibers in the V-shaped grooves. And encase an upper cap over the micro ball lens, grooves, and optical fibers or waveguides. Through suitable configuration and positioning of the micro ball lens, grooves or waveguides, the micro ball lens may be aligned precisely between two sides of the optical fibers or waveguides. The process is simpler, more accurate, and may produce the optical fiber alignment element in an integrated and batch fashion.
