    Abstract: An aluminum cylinder for a two-stroke engine is die cast in two separate parts which are subsequently press-fitted together by differential heating. The parts are joined along a line which intersects the cylinder's inlet and exhaust ports. Thus, the port sections on the respective parts can be readily machined before the parts are fitted together.
