  • Patent number: 4911505
Abstract: A servo-brake-auto-modulator of the kind for use in a trailer provided with a pneumatic braking system is modified so as to enable also the achievement of the functions of an anti-overload valve. To that end a discharge passage (26) which communicates with the atmosphere is formed in an inlet chamber (22) of the body (51) of the servo-brake-auto-modulator (20) in such a position that a control member (47) in one of its working positions, causes a control chamber (33) to be connected to said discharge passage (26), preventing overloading of the parking-brake members (6).

  • Patent number: 4902591
Abstract: In a gas-recombination lead accumulator, the electrolyte includes additives selected from the group consisting of ions of tin, selenium and bismuth and/or organic molecules selected from the group consisting of n-dodecylamine, 2,3,4-trimethoxybenzaldehyde, 3,5-diaminobenzoic acid, nicotinic acid and their sodium, potassium and magnesium salts. The presence of the aforesaid additives has the effect of inhibiting the discharge of hydrogen and/or promoting the reduction of oxygen at the negative electrode.

  • Patent number: 4902922
Abstract: The rotor comprises a shaft from which two facing pole plates extend radially, each having a plurality of radial pole fingers whose ends are bent towards the other pole plate and each of which extends between two adjacent fingers of the other pole plate. An excitation winding is situated between the plates coaxial with the shaft. At least one axial ventilation duct is formed in the shaft from which branch radial ducts in correspondence with the pole plates, the ducts communicating with the corresponding ventilation passages provided in each pole plate, which open into recesses defined between pairs of adjacent pole fingers.

  • Patent number: 4869473
Abstract: The device comprises two rods which are each intended to be connected to one of the structural elements, and at least one helical spring whose ends are connected to two discs, each associated with one of the rods, so as to oppose the movement apart of the rods through the discs. The latter are mounted for axial sliding relative to the associated discs and are formed in such a way that their movement both towards and away from each other causes tensioning of the spring from its undeformed rest condition. The device acts as a rigid connecting element when thestresses applied to it are less than a predetermined threshold. When the stress exceeds the threshold, however, it deforms resiliently to limit the amount of stress transmitted to the members between which it is connected.

  • Patent number: 4835432
Abstract: The brush holder comprises an electrically insulating body having a pair of apertures through which extend first and second brushes, which are movable by means of a single resilient member acting simultaneously on both brushes. This solution enables the wear on the brushes to be reduced significantly, particularly on the negative brush which normally tends to be worn away more rapidly.

  • Patent number: 4822110
Abstract: In its simplest form, the valve comprises a body with an inlet connector and an outlet connector intended to be connected to a pressure source and a pneumatic circuit respectively. In the body, a valve comprising a seat and an obturator controls communication between the connectors. A control piston is sealingly slidably mounted in the body and, in its working travel, can cause controlled movement of the obturator away from the seat to cause controlled opening of the valve. According to the invention, the seat of the valve is formed in a member mounted in the body for movement in the direction of displacement of the obturator. A member is operatively associated with the piston and intended to cause a displacement of the seat relative to the body together with and in contact with the obturator when the control piston passes beyond a predetermined position relative to the body in its working travel.

  • Patent number: 4819992
Abstract: The distributor comprises a body in which a movable brake-operating pusher is mounted for movement as a result of the actuation of the brake pedal. The position of the operating pusher relative to the distributor body is detected by means of a linear potentiometer having a casing fitted into the distributor body and a slide provided with a control pusher adapted to cause the displacement of the slide as a result of the movement of the operating pusher.

  • Patent number: 4817256
Abstract: An automatic machine for forming induction windings in the axial slots of rotors of dynamo-electric machines, such as electric motors, alternators and the like, comprises a wire-guiding unit for supplying an array of conductor wires to a winding station at which motor-driven take-up means operate to engage the radially innermost ends of the wires, and chuck means for gripping the shaft of the rotor and effecting the operating cycle of forming the windings. The take-up means have associated motor-driven cutting means for cutting the ends of the wires at the end of a cycle, and a member for attachment to the shaft of the rotor to drive the translation and rotation of the take-up means from the chuck means during the forming cycle.

  • Patent number: 4801909
Abstract: An electromagnetic device for controlling the supply of current to an electric starter motor includes a pair of fixed contacts on a support for connection to a power supply and a starter motor, respectively. A movable contact which is adapted to engage both fixed contacts is carried by a movable core of an electromagnet so that upon energization of the electromagnet, the movable contact engages both fixed contacts to complete the circuit to the starter motor. A spring is provided for biassing the movable contact away from the fixed contacts upon de-energization of the electromagnet. A flexible braided conductor is permanently connected between the movable contact and one of the fixed contacts to provide an equipotential electrical connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4712577
Abstract: The valve comprises a body with an inlet connector and an outlet connector for connection to a pressure source and a pneumatic circuit respectively, and with an obturator valve which controls communication between the connectors. The valve has a control device including a piston sealingly slidable in a guide portion of the body between a first chamber which can be put into communication with a pressure source and a second chamber housing a valve so that the piston can move and open the valve under the effect of the pressure in the first chamber. The guided portion of the piston is generally cylindrical and has a smaller cross-section than the passage cross-section of the guide portion of the body. An intermediate member is sealingly interposed between the guided portion of the piston and the guide portion of the body.
