  • Patent number: 4420320
Abstract: A method of producing soil conditioners from waste material, and of utilizing the internal energy thereof, while reducing the volume of the waste material at the same time, is disclosed in which initially compacts of a refuse-sludge mixture are subjected to intense rotting whereby the water content thereof is reduced from an initial value of about 50 to 60 percent to about 30 percent, preferably 20 percent, and whereby the compacts become dried and storable. The dried and storable compacts are ground or screened, or both, with the screened out fine fraction being directly usable as a soil conditioner, and then the ground or screened, or both, compacts are thermally treated by one of low temperature carbonization and combustion.

  • Patent number: 4339091
Abstract: A device for depositing a cable into a receiving container or can, comprises, a rotary distributor including a rotatable cable distributing tube extending obliquely downwardly in the distributor which has an inlet into which the cable is directed adjacent the center of rotation and a cable discharge adjacent its bottom disposed at a location spaced radially outwardly of the cable inlet. The cable receiver has a side with a curved periphery which is located adjacent the tube in a position to receive cable which issues out of the outlet of the tube and engages around the surface of the receiver. The receiver is mounted for rotation relative to the distributor so that there is a driving rotation of one relative to the other to effect the deposit of the coils of the cable around the cable receiver. The receiver can is disposed below the receiver to push the coils of cable as they are deposited on the receiver downwardly along the surface of the receiver and then off of the surface into the can.

  • Patent number: 4319123
Abstract: A pair of workpieces are welded together by passing between them an arc which is guided by a magnetic field to rotate on the workpieces. Immediately after striking of the arc the field strength of the magnetic field is relatively great and a relatively great current is similarly passed through the arc. During a subsequent main phase, before fusing of the surfaces to be welded, the field strength and the current of the arc are reduced to a fraction of their values for even heating of the surfaces to be welded together. Finally during a terminal phase the current of the arc and the field strength are again raised to a higher level to completely fuse the two surfaces which can then be welded together once the arc is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 4234133
Abstract: The device is for winding textile thread, particularly made of synthetic material, into bobbins, and in which a driven drive roll is in frictional engagement with the bobbins wound upon bobbin supports and in which, for the purpose of maintaining a constant winding speed and constant tension in the thread, the latter, before reaching the drive roll, passes over a pivotally mounted compensating roller arranged on a pivotally mounted lever whose pivotal movement is subject to the tension in the thread which passes over the compensating roller. The lever is connected with a potentiometer in the circuit of a control device which adjusts the speed of a motor drivingly connected with said drive roll.

  • Patent number: 4205505
Abstract: A device for aligning a plurality of rows of articles, such as tea bags, on a receiving tray for subsequent packaging in a container, comprises, means for feeding a sheet of the material along a feed path. A first row of the articles is then aligned over the top of the sheet and a loop is formed directly adjacent the trailing edge of the row of articles using a first loop-forming arm which moves upwardly through the feed path to deflect the sheet upwardly into a loop behind the first row of articles and a second arm which moves downwardly behind the upwardly deflected sheet so as to form the other side of the loop. The tray thus formed includes a plurality of substantially parallel, spaced apart loops which are formed upwardly in the bottom of the sheet material.

  • Patent number: 4186890
Abstract: The winder includes pairs of rotatable chucks each supporting one or more bobbins. The two chucks of each pair include a top chuck and a bottom chuck operatively associated with a common drive roll, although the chucks may be driven otherwise. A traverse housing extends parallel to the chucks and has respective traverse guides for each bobbin. A yarn pickup or pusher is mounted on the housing for displacement longitudinally thereof by a cable cylinder. A respective yarn transfer device is associated with each chuck for swinging about the axis of the chuck between the retracted position and a yarn transfer position. Each device includes a bar or tube extending parallel to the associated chuck throughout substantially its entire length. While yarn packages are being wound at high speed on one chuck of each pair, the other chuck is in a retracted standby position.

  • Patent number: 4166587
Abstract: The yarn to be transferred is fed at high speed through a traverse mechanism and between a drive roll and a bobbin mounted on a first chuck and rotated by the drive roll to cross-wind a yarn package. An empty bobbin is mounted on a second chuck parallel to the first chuck. When the package is substantially full wound, the empty bobbin is engaged with the drive roll and the yarn package is retracted to provide a clearance space between the package and the drive roll. A transfer rod on the free end of an arm pivoted on the traverse mechanism, and extending parallel to the drive roll, is swung through the clearance space to engage the yarn and draw a loop to toward the rotating empty bobbin, and the package is then reengaged by the drive roll for continued high speed rotation to maintain tension on the drawn loop while the transfer rod draws the yarn loop against and beyond the empty bobbin.
